Maybe not!

I spoke to my dealer about this about 10 months ago and they indicated to me that although this is available for older 3 series cars and the 1 series, time will tell if it is available for the E90....doesn't appear to be out yet (one year after the car came out), so I'd say not to keep your hopes up!

I sold my Ipod when I found this out as one of the key reasons I got it was for the potentially awesome integration with the stereo.

The car kit company installed the connects2 iPod kit in my Mini not long ago and they claimed that the kit for E90 should be released in few weeks time (now?)

I hope one is released soon, my dealer was hopeless when I asked them about it. I am sick an tired of the stupid AUX input kludge we are to bear...

BMW bulletin 10th Nov

I've just ordered an E92 and the dealer in Canberra printed out a dealer bulletin for me dated 10th Nov, which says the ipod interface(Full interface with in-car audio system--new system) is available now.
It allows selection by genre, artist, albums and playlists, and integration with iDrive. Also displays detailed info about current track (artist and time index). Charges ipod and sits in glove compartment. However, takes the CD changer input, so both can't be connected simultaneously.
Also maxinum of 255 artists, albums or genres.

The part number is 65 41 0 412881 for E90,91,92. $435 plus installation. Not sure if this is wholesale price.

Hope this is what you're after.

Got quoted roughly $650 inc installation and GST for it today

I am going to get it because the aux input method is driving me crazy!

What's wrong with the aux input?
Why not wait for the aftermarket solutions (icelink plus/connects2 etc) which costs half

The aux input sux I have over 9,000 songs on my pod and searching it in traffic is a pain.

As for waiting for other solutions, I guess I am a very impatient man... I have been waiting for this for over a year now...

Pricey!

Ipod cost - $400+
Installation - $600+

That's a lot of cash!

I sold my iPod too as:

1) The sound quality is very average if you listen to it on a half decent stereo / headphone set (admittedly, everyone has different levels of acceptability on this)

2) Unless you have iDrive, scrolling around on that 2 line screen is a PAIN! only ONE more line would make it so much more usable!

I now just stick a few MP3 CD-RWs in the glove box and use them instead! That is a good 300 songs which would take about a month to listen to anyway...

I can't deny that the whole integration thing is pretty cool though...
