side view mirror auto fold in feature available?

I know there has been disscussions on this but I thought I would add my .02 cents worth. I know 07 and newer cars did not have the auto fold in feature programmed into the DME like the 06 and older models. I just received my Bentley service shop book and it actually talks about the ability to have a dealer add this programing feature onto a 07 and new car.

has anyone had this done?

My mirrors can fold in... unless I am mis-understanding the auto. Do you want them to fold in without you even pressing a button? Mine fold in when you flip the button to the right or left, which is enough for me.

My mirrors will both fold in if I hit the little button by the mirror adjustment controller on the drivers door. What I wanted was the feature where you hold the lock button down on the remote or hold your finger on the door handle (for those with comfort access) and the mirrors will automatically fold in.

Won't happen.

It used to in the '06's, but not since.

Even on my 06 I have to hold the door handle with the comfort access to get the mirrors to fold up.

I don't have CA, but in my 06 u need to insert the key into the door handle and turn and hold for the mirrors to fold in, then when u unlock with the key fob they fold out automatically.

I know the 07 and newer cars lost that feature. I was just reading in the bentley shop book that the lost feature can be reprogrammed on the newer cars to work like the 06 and older versions

It can be done.

I had an 08 335i cabrio with CA and my SA had it programed when you locked the car with the fob and held the button the mirrors would fold in. Mirrors would unfold as soon as it was unlocked with the fob. It was totaled and when I brought the replacement 335i in after buying at a different dealer they wanted $160 to do the same programming so didn't want to pay for the feature. If I ever get back to the dealer in Columbus Ohio where bought the CPO replacement, I will ask them do it.

As soon as the mirrors fold in and out every time you lock and unlock the door, they would be burning out and a new complaint about the crap BMW sells. Push the button if it is that important. I don't want mine doing that.

I don't believe there is any way to "reprogram" the car to do this.

However, there is an aftermarket solution. Its a little electronic gizmo you install that gives you a few other features. Cheap too.

I've seen it around on the board, you might want to do a search.
