Reparing a phone
I have a sony erection K850i, new 02/08.
It died within a month. Previous sony the k800i i had Before and it was a mare trying to get them to repair under warranty (it never happened) So didnt Bother with the k850i Id like to try and fix it myself, i cant rememBer what happened with it, i think it struggled to charge due to a Break at the Bottom. How can i identify exactly what happened to it? anyone know of any phones shops which do repairs?

Can't you upgrade or something? I view mobiles as disposable items - which I never remember to dispose of.
SE C905 kicks ar5e - best phone I've had by miles. |

True enough - had my 3rd C905 delivered today because of a mic fault.
My old Nokias used to last forever - the later ones I had crashed constantly and were utter cack so went to SE. Symbian software is the work of the devil. |

although very stylish and modern when they came out (K800i and K850i) i found them unreliable, which is a shame cuz they looked and worked so well for a short time!

Yep - Sony Erikssssssssson.
I always get mine insured - if they break, I have a new one the next day. But generally the C905 has been utterly brilliant. Good camera too and wifi - handy for surfing por...I mean news websites. |

Carlos,
If the phone is less than 12 months old, simply return it to where you got it from with details of the fault - they should then either arrange to swap it out with a refurbed phone or send it away for repair. Either way, you will get a working phone FOC that you can then bang on ebay for a few dollars or keep as a spare or use it for one of your dodgy 'spare' SIM's ) |

RIGHT, ive got this phone started.
It turns on and works. Anyone familiar with this phone knows that the top three Buttons are touch style. Now the middle one, which is like the menu one is stuck. Soon as you click on this, or a contact etc it goes through to texting the first person in the phone Book. Ive given it a quite wipe on the curtains (joke) and that has rectified it. Anyone know if the front can Be replaced? or whether something may work?

It may do but you may need to buy a small torx screwdriver to take the phone apart. Which is more expense.
Have you googled mobile phone repairs there must be loads about. Then get a quote and see if its worth proceeding. |

Hi mate, the torx thing is included with that ebay item. Does that item to you look like it will fix the sticking ''touch'' button at the bottom of the screen?

Its worth £20 faulty or £50 working on fleabay. Just googled spare parts for that model and there isn't an abundance of spares available apart from new fascias. You have no idea the fault. If you give it to someone who knows he'll probably charge close to £50 for the repair. I'd certainly want to earn at least £20 an hour to fix it plus parts and VAT !!
Is it worth it? Or try and sell it on one of these phone websites being advertised on TV. |

The keypad replacement may fix it. Have you tried removing the fascia and cleaning the keypad yet? http://lmgtfy.com/?q=sony+ericsson+k850i+parts |

I've got that phone! It's quite a good enough actually.
Had some similar problems with what you've described. Got it on warranty so got it repaired. They did replace the keypad if that's any help. Kit seems like it could repair your problem mate. |
