Paint match

I bought my e92 used, its a 2007 AW. I just got my new painted aero lip in the mail and went to install it. When I held it up against my new bumper I could tell a difference, it looks too new! I guess the paint on my bumper is somewhat faded and it doesnt quite look right when you stand close to it.

Any suggestions on what I should do? Do I need to get it repainted?

So I should just mount it and hope that it fades alittle over time?

It sounds like you will need to get it blended. There are several variations of each paint code and the shop that painted the lip probably just used the most common one.

Not sure what the condition of the car's paint is BUT, you may want to have the paint polished out first.
Even on AW there is a HUGE difference between well cared for paint & paint that has received an occasional wash n' wax.

I agree, the paint probably wasn't properly taken care of before I got the car and that could cause a slight difference. I'm going to take it to the body shop next week and see what they suggest. I did just wax the car hoping that would help, but not so much.

even if they get the codes matched correctly, it may still not always match because the material the lip is made from is different than bumper (i guess). So they won't gurantee. different paint techniques even. So just have to suck it up.
