We are proud to announce that european auto source is Orange County's newest authorized GIAC dealer.

GIAC is a software engineering company with 17 years experience tuning cars known for creating "factory smooth" performance software with exceptional power and reliability. Our software replaces the standard software in your car’s engine control unit. It is programmed to adjust ignition timing, fuel delivery, fuel metering, boost settings, rev limiters, and/or speed limiters to optimize performance and, in some applications, fuel economy.

Performance-tuned programs are designed to dramatically increase torque and HP without sacrificing smooth drivability. Many programs are also created to accommodate numerous after market performance modifications.

GIAC is focused on designing after-market software for Porsche, Audi, Bentley and VW cars but also has a long history of tuning BMW, Volvo, Mercedes and many other European makes on a case-by-case basis. Accessory products include the Flashloader Software and handheld switchers, which enable remote controlled chip switching device for easy switching between multiple GIAC programs and the stock program. We also provide custom tuning services for special projects.

GIACs development team employs proprietary GIAC software and a variety of debuggers, emulators and scopes to tackle the most complex tuning problems. Our dedicated research facility in Irvine, CA houses a 4WD Mustang Dynamometer and state of the art tools for developing and testing software. Expertise in software and circuit design, combined with an understanding of embedded technology, enable us to offer a broad range of tuning solutions.

Tuning is an art. To tune for optimal performance is to tune for a careful combination of speed, strength, and agility that varies as driver tastes vary. GIAC exists to tune cars for the way enthusiasts like to drive.



Newly released GIAC Software for BMW e9x M3 GIAC performance software is now available for BMW e9x M3 applications. 10 to 20 wheel HP and 7 to 12 ft lbs of wheel torque gain over stock (dyno plot link). Gains are estimated at 12 to 24 HP and 8 to 14 ft lbs of torque at the crank.

GIAC Software Package Features:
- OBD2 port flash installation
- Enhanced throttle reaction
- Smooth power transitions
- Removed speed limiter
- 50-100RPM higher rev limiter

A certain criteria must be met when programming your sensitive BMW's electronics. We currently use the most up-to-date and proper equipment required to flash your BMW's computer using the Autologic Diagnostic Scanner and Fronius Power supply to monitor your BMW's vitals while flashing is being performed.

AutoLogic DME Scanning
The Autologic Diagnostic System is designed to replicate the functionality of OEM tools used by automotive manufacturers. Typically, manufacturer’s OEM tool’s are replaced and/or updated periodically to maintain unity with newer systems and technologies incorporated into their vehicles. Keeping up with this ever changing technology, the Autologic tool will remain competitive, thanks to simple and convenient software updates. Similar to most of the other aftermarket tools currently available, the Autologic provides data stream, reading and clearing of diagnostic trouble codes, and component activation, among others. That’s where the similarities end. Getting into systems other aftermarket tools only dream about accessing, like immobilizer key coding, module replacement (including coding and programming) and even performance tuning, the bi-directionally competent Autologic diagnostic tool stands alone among its many competitors. Simply spoken, it is unmatched by any other diagnostic tool in the industry.

As luxury car manufacturers build increasingly more complex vehicles, specialist shop owners invest in a wide variety of tools in order to emulate vital manufacturer-specific diagnostics. The Autologic Diagnostic System consistently leads the pack among the OEM-specific aftermarket diagnostic tools with the highest levels of compatibility currently available anywhere.

Fronius ACCTIVA Professional Flash 70A Power Supply
Electronically-safe battery charger with rapid charging function. The charger supplies the vehicle with power during diagnosis and vehicle software re-programming. The integrated USB port ensures that the charger is completely future-proof: software updates can be loaded very easily. Powerful: 70 A in continuous operation.

As the development of the programming of vehicles has evolved, the times involved in carrying out this procedure have increased. The process of programming, coding and updating software in all modules has resulted in battery power and charging demands that are at an all time high. During programming and coding, the vehicle voltage must remain constant with very little deviation, while the current must be allowed to increase with vehicle demand. The voltage level may require adjustment as technology changes.

If an incorrect power supply (ie: battery charger) is used, costly irreversible damage will occur to control modules.

GIAC Performance Software is $700 and requires approximately 1.5 hours for reflashing on site. Bench-Flash capabilities are coming soon. All flashes include a complete diagnostic scan before and after flashing.

Dynamometer test results

Dynamometer test results are included here using a two local test vehicles courtesy of VF-Engineering. The first plot compares the GIAC calibration and VF-Engineering cold air intake versus OEM calibration and hardware on the same e9x M3.

i drove a car that has GIAC flash. Throttle is definitely sick. the car revs like mofo. had to re-adjust to the car due to over-revving every time i try to rev match. my car seems lots slower now after i drove the GIAC-flashed car. i couldnt tell much difference on high end or low end to be honest. i was told the low end is torquier, but i couldnt really notice...

is it compatible with the portable switcher as some of us are confused about this?

if it is then theoretically i could just select stock before going to the dealer and normal when i am on my own, please let me know if this is case,
then interested.

Switching modes is still under development for BMW applications, we will update the thread as soon as more info is presented.

Keep in mind that if your software is erased by your dealer, you will be reflashed at no additional charge, other than labor.

the bonus of that to me, is being able to going back to stock before service, in order to avoid warranty issues....when it becomes compaitble i am interested, rough timeline?

Dealer won't be able to detect a flash in the first place, there's really nothing to worry about in that context.

Reflashes are provided at no charge (depending on GIAC location, some dealers may charge labor) if your software is accidentally overwritten by the dealer.

Was it really faster, or was the throttle made to be more aggressive? I hate SPORT mode and the twitchy throttle taht comes with it.



Also, do they have different maps for different mods? Single cat delete/HFC or no cats?

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Why do you say it won't be detectable by dealer? Why not? What steps have been taken.
What about further up the BMW chain, such as BMW USA or BMW AG?

Different tunes are available, we will ask for a mod list before tuning so that the flash is specific to your mods. GIAC does not tamper with the emission settings in the ECU - they will all be intact and 100% stock.

You're refering to the EGAS, which is changed by GIAC for quicker throttle response, but not to the point where day to day driving is affected (earlier SMG in Sport mode will know what I'm talking about).

Local dealers so not have the tools to detect flashes. However, if the computer is sent to BMWNA, this is a different story. There is no specific reason this should ever happen unless other factors come into play which are unrelated to this thread.

While the tunes are on the aggressive side, GIAC has been tuning for quite some time to know what levels are acceptable and safe for your M3.

i said i didnt notice it being faster. the throttle becomes as if you are in Sport Plus the whole time. If i hit the M button now it makes no difference, it used to before.
