128 to 130

Does anyone know if there is a step by step of how to turn your 128 to 130, in order to get that additional 30hp?

The difference is the intake manifold and ECU. There was a thread about some guy who bought a 130/330 intake manifold, it's got some variable part that the 125i/128i doesn't, which when paired with the 130/330 ecu gives the power increase. The guy didn't end up installing it for some reason. Guess the warrant would be goneskees, plus the gearbox in the 125i/128i isn't as heavy duty as the 130/330.

This is what i understand anyway..

I don't exactly know for 128i, but for particular 125i manufactured around October 2008, intake manifold is 100% same as on 130i.
Some earlier cars had mentioned different intake manifold, but it seems that BMW unified it at some moment of time. For US speced cars it could be different, but tuning specialist for BMW engines should easily tell you.
In relation to gearbox, automatic one is exactly same for 125/130/135, but have no clue why would 125/128 have lesser gearbox than 130i, but anyway....

Well actually an automatic gearbox for 135i is different (ZF unit)...

PLS. BE MORE SPECIFIC BEFORE EXPRESSING OPINION

I compared Euro speced cars 125i and 130i

So, 125i vs 130i

Equal intake
Equal camshafts
Equal ECU box with JUST DIFFERENT engine control software

Automatic gearbox is same, but with AT gearbox 125i has 'minor advantage' over 130i in final drive (I=3,73 vs 3,64).

Swaping software is apparently not big issue and cracking codes is matter of software guys. Usually that elevates power (+50 HP) to 270-272 HP range alone (what is stock power of Euro 330i and X3 with same engines).

I have no idea if 128i has some other changes compared to Euro 125i, but for 2008 and later Euro 125i owners aforesaid is checked and true.
Real improvement after software swap (with AT gearbox) is quite obvious (0-100 km/h 6,0 s vs. 6,7 s with car I tested) and car runs better in all situations, so such mod is well worth efforts (should not cost too much either).
Next step with replacing complete exhaust system (I went catless route) and adding Injen intake with further ECU optimization can add 30-40 HP more, but would cost way more (at least 3500+).
Interesting observation is that car drives like it was added more power than in reality, as engine 'breaths' much better and revs with less efforts. Acceleration is improved to around 5,5 s (0-100 km/h) what is more than excellent result for tuned 125i with AT.
My point was and is that such tuning doesn't go over the top and preserves engine reliability (well ecology is price to pay for unfortunatelly)
