08 335i sedan or 06 750i?
New here. Was a member on e46fanatics before i sold the car. I am looking in to getting back in a bimmer soon. Cannot decide between the 2006 750i or the 08 335i. I like the speed in the e90 and it is a fun drive. However, the 7 is classier, and would be taken more serious in my profession (re) as well as the fact that I think it is absolutely gorgeous. I get alot of criticism from friends regarding the 7 being a older persons car. The car would be a present from parents for my 21st. Thoughts? Thanks for any input.

The 7 is straight Gangsta. I would pick the seven not for the speed because you do not need to go fast in that, just cruise and the women around your age and older know that, that this is the king of the Bimmers.

I mean, the 750 does 0-60 faster than the 325's, 328's, and 330's...

7 is the worst BMW in the company's current lineup. It's large, non efficient, slow, heavy, over engineered and simply ugly. Not to mention maintaining that car is going to cost too.
When I see a young kid in a 7 I think.. whatta tool. When I see an older person in a 7 I think.. whatta tool.

Do you want a sport sedan or a luxury car? The 750 will handle well for its size but it's a very large car that will be comfortable and have all the bells and whistles. The 335 on the other hand will be a lot more fun to drive but a more basic car. At your age I'd choose the 335.
Thanks, Mike. |

^^^ I was waiting for that one... Lets see if this thread can stay focused...
As for the OP, nice BD present!!! The car has to tailor to your personality regardless of what other people think... If you are a more spirited driver and dont need all the extra buttons and features that the 750 offers then I would say go for the 3. To be honest, I cant really see someone 21 driving a 7er especially if it will be you by yourself most of the time. The 7er will be out of warranty soon and it is a b*&ch to maintain once it is out of coverage. Trust me, I know someone with the exact car in black on black... He will be moving into a 5 series sometime soon because no one is ever in his back seat. I assume gas consumption isnt really a problem for you since this is a birthday present anyway. To sum everything up... GET THE 335!!! (if it suites your personality) |

Just my 2 cents on your question
I am 54 y.o. and last year traded in my 04 745 for a new E92. I loved the 7, but, when I knew it was going to be out of warranty, I found that it would cost me a fortune to maintain. I go the 335 now and I never regretted it for a minute. The 7 was a great comfortable car, but, it was boring. The 335 with the N54 Engine is a reason to drive to work each day.

Get the 750i I had a 745li and then bought a 335i e92 and now back to a 750li. Cant go wrong with the 3 or the 7 but to me driving the seven is amazing it just floats over any bump and has the big body apeal at least to me. Here's some pics of the old 7 and recently sold 3.

it should be illegal for anyone under 35 to be driving a 7 series... lol... you're 21... no matter how mature you are people will think you're driving your mom/dad's ride... even if its yours. Get the 335... you'll love it !!!!

What profession will a 21 yr old be taken more seriously in a 7 than a 3? I know if I rolled up in a 7 people would just think it was my parents whereas they know the 335 is certainly affordable for my job, but i must say the 7 is pretty sweet.....because my 55 year old father has one.

They're right. Unless you are too big to fit in a 3 I would opt for the 335. I'm 41 and wouldn't want a big car like the 7 series. Not that i could afford it.
