LSD in a 335d? Possible?

Hi Guys,

I have a 2009 US 335d that I picked up and wanted to install a wavetrac lsd. I was told that rumor has it that the diffs are welded in like the 335i manual.

Is this true? Any experiences - good or bad?

Sorry for the cross post.

Cheers,
Jim E.

Someone on this forum installed a Quaife LSD on his 335d. It works good (there is a review on the forum). It was welded, but Quaife has a solution for welded diffs now. You pay 4000EUR to quaife, they send you a pumpkin with LSD in it, then you swap and send them your LSD and get 2000EUR back.

Sorry, I meant you send your differential to them, not the LSD

Thanks for the info. I'll search for that review. I assume it's on this forum?

A friend installed it on a 535d and he is extremely happy about it.

Hi Jim
As a recent buyer of a 335d, I was wondering what your motivation is in the LSD? The stock e-diff seems to hook up pretty well, though I haven't really pushed it that hard...yet. Just curious.

As far as we know, all 335d's came with a welded diff. The only solution is to modify the exiting ring gear or purchase a complete Quaife or Wavetrac final drive unit.
