Baby Austin

Came back to find this little summer project - my Dad's old "Baby" Austin Seven.

I remember trying to get this going in the early 80s with my brother. Runs on a 6 volt battery. Gauge on the top of the radiator reads "Cool Warm Boil"

Wee cracker. Boys are going to tidy her up and put her in the showroom.

In one photo below you se it next to a Micra !

Little spruce up continues.

Ordered a cast inlet manifold and gasket, few other bits and bobs. Together with postage came to £30 !!!

Someone has offered us a spare engine.

Hopefully get a spin in it the next time I am home.

Lucky it actually uses electricity

It runs on 6 volts.

Painted by hand. Needs a quick rub down. But quite amazing how the coachwork has survived - made from alloy, no rust at all. Like to see our BMWs in 80 years time ....

Met a few people who have fond memories of going trips up to Glasgow in these cars. With a full car. Difficult to comprehend nowadays.
