Front Bumper License Plate

Hey Everyone,

I place an ordered for a 335i Xdrive with M Sport Package, Premium Package and Cold Weather Package on July 20th (or the week before). I have been tracking my car since I got the VIN# and for a week it has said it was being Painted. I called my dealership today, to tell them to please not drill license plate holes in the front end of the car (planning to get the Swift License Plate Holder). The car is supposed to be delivered by August 25th. My Sales Associate said he would put the request in, but can not be 100% that the request will be done. I was told that the bumper gets drilled once the car is shipped to the US, so it seems like they should have PLENTY of time to get the request in the computer and not drill the holes.

Anyone have any experience with this (or any other requests) getting done once the order was placed?

Thanks in advance!

You need a better CA. Tell him if they drill the holes, your not taking the car. I asked my CA the same thing. He simply responded "no problem". The plate gets drilled in during vehicle processing or at the dealer.

I think your service advisor is bullshitting you. I bought my 335i at the dealership and it has been sitting there for a few months. It did not have the front plates on. They asked me if I wanted it and I said no. Just had me sign a waiver.

dealers do this... Not all states require front plates...

Like NC. We dont. Thank god.. Theyre ugly as hell and dont fit.

Euro plates are another story.

The dealers put the front plates on. Most of them don't even put them on until delivery because some folks won't buy a car with a front plate mount. They can live up to your request. I would call the GM of the dealership and explain that this request must be complied with. He or she will make sure the front of your car is left alone.

right and if you MUST run one, just use 3m tape to secure it like we did in germany with our front plates.

Its also how I have my german plate secured on my car here in the US

Is the 3m tape better than the Swift Motor Sport license plate holder? Found here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=175300

May not end up getting the motorized one ($100 difference between motorized and non motorized).

Not too happy about the position of the Euro Dyne one. Great concept though. I think I will end up going for the Swift Motor Sport Non motorized ($60 with shipping to NJ).

just use the good 3m tape. I have it on my euro plate and it holds fine. No holes. No permanent damage.

While you're at it, make sure to tell them you don't want any dealer logos either - one less thing to debadge.

I told mine (jokingly) that if they wanted to put their name all over my car, they needed to give me 5 grand off for advertising fees . . .

I wouldn't have been joking.
