Putting in 87 Octane Gas
This is for a 3.5 hour drive to my friend's cottage where my friends want me to use regular gas to save money. Will there be any damage to the engine itself by using regular gas? Is it fine if the tank is half filled with premium and half regular?
Thanks PS: I know my friends are cheap and i know the total savings per person is only going to be $3. |

You won't damage your engine but you won't achieve optimal performance either. I would go with 89 or higher if I were you.

You're joking right?
Tell your cheap ass friends if they want you to drive then they have to pay for what BMW says. If they don't like it tell them to walk.

Hahaha.
Cute friends. 87 won't hurt your car but your cheap ass friends are funny. For only $3 to make you troubled and post up a thread here? God... Tell them that you are driving for them so suck up $3 more dollars, if they resist, just pay up on your own. Problem solved. |

+1 to every response above. manual says 89 or higher. that means i dont put in anything less than 93. there really will be only a difference of about $3-5.
or tell them to get out and walk.

+1 to all responses. if it were me i would figure out gas per person and charge them $20 a piece extra for the wear and tear on the tires. The mileage. The oil change coming faster. If they dont wanna pay you pay for the whole thing and tell them to take their own car.

If they were my friends I'd bitch slap them for talking such BS. Your giving them a ride and all they have to do is pay for the gas. If they don't like it then they can walk.

Ya know what, have them take the bus while you drive yourself to wherever you guys were going... Then they don't have to complain about paying for premium gas

I'd be more worried about the extra weight of your friends and the luggage you'll be bringing along for the trip then gas.
