Looking to get a 3 series but..
Hey guys, this is my first post here.
I kind of miss not having leather seats, a warranty, a good sound system and just the comfort of being backed by the dealership for maintenance and such.. so I was thinking about picking up a BMW. Well I was thinking of two options. I currently drive a Turbo 350z, it has a bolt on kit with a tune. All I have is that kit, lowering springs and sway bars, return fuel system and some gauges... but I've been wondering if I sell it privately and pick up a 335i? I mean those are pretty darn quick, and have the luxury. Or... keep the Z and just finance a 325/328/330? I can satisfy my thirst for speed in the Z.... but I don't DD it. |

If you want your BMW to be as fast as the Z, you'll need the 335. The 330's not bad speed wise stock, but compared to the Z it'll seem like a slug. I'd say sell the Z, and buy on 07 or 08 CPO 335i, you'll love it, and have a great warranty.
Go for the used, I'm tellin ya: http://www.bmwtowson.com/PreOwned/ca...m?car_id=46954 36k grand, and after you sell the z, you'll barely have to finance anything. |

the Twin Turo-I6 (135,335,535) has it's quirks (search High Pressure Fuel Pump - HPFP). The 335 is really a GT cruiser. I know Edmunds did a comparo of the 370Z vs 135i which you might find interesting.

I switched from an 03 Corvette to a 335 Coupe, and the performance is mad! Also the dealership support is miles ahead of anything I've experienced at Jag Benz or Lexus. So on the whole I'd advocate a 335!

Some good advice here. Thanks guys.
I was thinking of picking up used yes. On top of that, there's no way I'd be able to get the 335 though without some sort of financing. If I sell it I'd hope to get 20k out of it, maximum. I'm aware of the issue with the fuel pump now but I'm not too worried.. the dealer replaces those right? Also, the 135i doesn't really spark my interest much.. in my opinion something just seems off about it. Maybe it's the cramped look. I guess the guy who used to drive the Corvette felt what I am feeling now. |
