scan button?

This might be a stupid question but I recently put in a cd and it says the title name of each track then it says... random and the other button says scn.... what’s scan exactly do... I pushed it and it seems to just go through the songs.
anybody have any ideas

it goes through the cd and locates all the tracks.

this mostly applies to mp3 cds though that might have sound files stored in a separate folder. pressing scan manually will effectively refresh the list of songs the cd player recognizes.

if its a normal audio cd then the pathing of the songs are already set, and pressing scan doesn't do anything.

sorry if this is kind of techy. i used to build computers for a side job.

It plays each song for 10secs to allow to scan all the songs on disc.

can you only see the title/track name if you have i-drive?

I actually can't see artist/title on my iDrive when I put in a regular CD (I specifically burned it with CD-TEXT). MP3 CDs show the tag info though.
