Odd changes made in the LCI

I got 2009 Loaner and I noticed some odd changes from pre-LCI.

the sunroof one-touch tilt feature has been removed. you now have to close the sunroof all the way first and then tilt it as opposed to my car where if the sunroof is open all the way, you can just tap the tilt button and it will close by itself and tilt.

The vents in the arm rest are gone. I use it to keep my pack of gum in there from melting in the blistering heat but now it's no longer possible.

When you flash the high beams, it's no longer halogens but the actually xenon bulb, i wonder if this is true for coupes as well?

Interesting.
Supposedly, BMW also removed the seatback net, cigarette lighter, trunk keyslot, etc. in their pursuit of cost cutting.

Re sunroof: probably because of complaints from people who accidentally leave it in tilted position when they meant to close it, and then it rains...

Re highbeams: makes sense since the LCI uses the new rings as DRL's already. However, I wonder how fast the xenons can flash on since they can take a few secs to be fully on. Plus, what would happen if you flash it a few times rapidly... that may be bad for the ballast for power to surge repeatedly thru it like that.

The high beams turn on instantly. There is no lag whatsoever. I was actually quite impressed with it.

Seatback nets are on the delete list for MY10 - the MY09 changes happened in April. I have an 09 with the nets, but no cigarette lighter in console (moved it to footwell) or trunk keyslot.

My LCI still has the seatback net (and the cig lighter, but that is another issue).

The LCI headlights use a bi-xenon set up. For the highbeams, a sheath just lifts up as far as I know. Essentially, the flashing of the highbeams is affected by how quickly the sheath retracts.

+1 - the angel eyes are designed MUCH Differently then the e92's. they use a Fragile mirror that can Easily fall out of place. bad design in my opinion.

sorta... if the lights are already on (at night), then yes the high beams are instant because all you're doing is moving down the cut off shield. If it's during the day and you flash your high beams, it's very slow because the bulbs are not already warmed up. This IS BAD for the ballast/bulbs.

I would refrain from flashing your lights during the day.
