Headache/Issue #1...
So when I started my '08 335xi up last night with my Gf and friend in the car, not only did my Airbag light/image come up in Red, but the Red seatbelt warning light came on next to it as well and stayed on. I tried turning the car off and on...had my passengers get out and tried seeing if it would go away from them not sitting on the sensors..nothing made it go away. It looks like its on for good until I bring it to the stealership...Has anyone else with an '08 or whatever year had this problem? I heard somewhere that an airbag recall was out for certain build date '08 cars but I'm not sure whether its true or not. Any feeback appreciated. Thanks,

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, some 2008 model year 1-Series and 3-Series models could have incorrect air bag wiring. Some models may have been equipped with the incorrect crimp connector, resulting in an insufficient connection. As a result, side air bags and seatbelt tensioners may not function properly in the event of a crash, possibly leading to the increased risk of injury.

The airbag light could mean a number of different problems, paired with the seatbelt icon it seems to point to a seat sensor in the passenger seat, or the above mentioned recall, but it could be alot of things. If the dealership is gonna fix it why does it matter what it is?

the production date for the recall should be between may 20 something and july 20 something production (2008) if i remember correctly.
My car just missed it by under a month, but I called the dealership to make sure. Looks like its a good thing those lights went off, instead of finding out in an instance where u needed the air bags. Good luck! |

Yep, pretty much all there is to say. Off to the dealer you go.

Germans should stick with mechanical engineering and stop trying to add more electrical gadgets/features/failures into their cars. This is why when I buy my BMW, I opt not to get navigation, active steering, or anything that will lead to more electrical problems down the road. |

My 06' Mitsubishi's airbag light went off 2 times until they decided to replace the passenger side curtain airbag.
Japs screw up too...
