Does anyone's comfort access act up?
Such as when you pull the handle, the car doesn't know what to do, so it unlocks and then locks, or it just tries to do both and makes a clicking sound? Trunk doesn't open all the time, windows don't want to go down when the button is held down on the fob.
All kidding aside, I was told the above is normal by the dealership. I don't think they were trying to be funny, I think they were saying it was working as well as BMW designed it. Of all the push to start rental cars I've had, none of them exhibited anything unusual. I almost would have to suggest people don't order comfort access, but if it's standard on an Altima, one would expect to have it on a BMW, otherwise the push to start is stupid.... |

I get the trunk not opening thing occasionally, and that's usually when I'm trying to show off to someone lol. Apart from that, I haven't had any other issues.

Mine works great never seen that - only issue I have is the trunk sometimes, but usually I have the key in the pocket furthest from the car, I just have turn closer to the car and it will work - probably looks like I am humping my car! (I do love my car)

trunk does it for me once in a while too... i notice i'm usually standing too close to the car. If i go to open the trunk standing almost an arm's length away, it works every time... go figure!

Are your windows tinted? That will interfere. It does with mine sometimes. Also, make sure you don't have your keys in the same pocket as you cell phone or any other junk that would get in the way. Try grabbing the door handle a little 'softer' then usual, helps for me. My trunk almost never works.
Just out of habit, unless my hands are full I usually just unlock and lock the car with the fob. I find locking it the worst, and I usually end up just standing there looking like a jackass jamming my thumb on the ridges. Faster to lock it walking away anyways. The only real great part is not having to insert the key, so the push start isn't redundant. That alone is worth it. |

Once in a while if I am too far away from the car and the car is started, I will get a No Key sign (mine is very sensative), but otherwise I have no issues with the key fob and controls.

No issues except the trunk, I find you need to keep the FOB a little further away for it to work, go figure.

I'm getting the distinct feeling that it's not normal for my driver's door to lock as I'm trying to pull it open. The question is how I'm going to get it fixed without getting into a shouting match with the dealership. They claimed it's normal and that they contacted BMWNA who backed them up. Maybe try a different dealership and start over? I just don't want things breaking out of warranty when I mentioned it under warranty...

My 325i doesn't have CA and I don't use his car unless I can't use mine or my wifes so it could be my error not using the system enough. But I'm pretty confident I know what I'm doing so it must be the car. It's rather sporadic and nothing he felt like addressing. He isn't keeping his car for a long time either so as long as it works most of the time he doesn't care.

Mine acts up too. Every now and again you should put the key fob in the ignition. This seems to make it work properly for a while. I also get the battery replaced once a year.

Mine works fine. Maybe not 100% of the time but most of the time. Like everyone else, the trunk seems to give the most trouble. I've never had it try to lock when I go to open the door though.

+1 Mine is 3 years old, has never had any quirks. I'd take it in for a look.
A couple of times, the trunk hasn't worked on the first try if I'm standing in some weird way like way off to the side, but getting closer and trying again worked. Mind you, this is less than a handful of times for a car I've driven daily for 3 years.

FWIW, the car actually warns you of a low battery signal in the comfort access fob. On mine that I use daily, it took over 2 years for the warning to pop up, and other than the warning, I'd never noticed the battery was low. YMMV of course. I seem to have had better luck with CA than others have. It's a definite "must have" on any future BMW I get.

My CA works PERFECTLY, 85% of the time. But the other 15% is really frustrating. It would be nice if BMW could somehow refine the technology to get the glitches out of the system.

Mine is kinda funky. Sometimes I grab the handle and the doors unlock, sometimes they don't, sometimes I have to pull the handle twice, etc... seems like there is no set way to get the doors to unlock with the comfort access that works 100% of the time. The door locking method should just work for unlocking too if the doors start out locked. Simple as that.
