I just installed my switch as well. Here's a question, when are you supposed to use the rear foglights?

ok I will keep them off EVERY OTHER TIME. Such as heavy snow, heavy rain and the like. THOSE are the times I wanted to know about. Either answer the question nicely or move on.

Most states prohibit the use of rear fog lamps when visibility is greater than 1/4 mile or 100 yards or similar distance. They're only occasionally useful, but when they are they're *really* useful. Think daylight grey-out fog or rainstorms, where the normal tail lamps aren't bright enough to be visible from very far away.

Well if you need us to tell you when to use them, maybe you should just keep them off. Logic and common sense generally dictate when to use them (and, no, you're not really supposed to use them for tailgaters). Logic and common sense are generally not too common amongst American drivers, so BMW eliminated the possibility of innocent motorists being distracted or blinded by the use of rear fogs in this country.

You answered your own question.

Damn straight. Nothing makes me more stabby than some jackass cruising the expressway on a perfectly clear night with his rear fogs on blinding everyone behind him.

Niiice! I've had it for a few years now and have only used it a few times in heavy downpours and when someone is too close on my ass.

Exactly! We get maybe 1 day of thick fog here per year, so that's pretty much the reason why I activated mine with the lightswitch mod.
