Aluminum Trim on Sports Steering Wheel

I noticed that the folks in Europe have an option to get the titanium trim on their sports steering wheel. Here in the US, all that has been offered is black. I saw this option in the configurator, but was wondering if this could be added later, and does anyone remember how much they paid for the upgrade? It can't be expensive.

Also, anyone upgrade their pedals and footrests to Aluminum?

Thanks
Nathan

I didnt know it wasnt available in the US..If you want, I can price one for you at my local dealer and let you know how much it costs. There are so many options over here that are not available in the US its not even funny..The part that really sucks is since I am ordering a US Spec model, I cant get them either!! Its strange though, some of the Europeans actually trade in their clear lenses for Amber ones like the Americans!! Im like, HUH?!?!?!

Did you notice that there are illuminated door sills with "BMW" lit up, and the aluminium trim around the shifter, and also the foot rest? Why don't they give the americans these options? I would have definitely gotten the illuminated door sills

Well, they haven't released the accessories catalog for the e90 in the US yet, so we may have to wait to see what they will be offering. But i can bet money we won't have all the options that are available in Europe. That's just how it works.

The steering wheel trim is easy to change, just like on the E46

The door strips have always been a dealer fitted option, and should be available in the USA as I know the 5 and 6 series have them available for retrofit there

My dealer in chicago just found this information in their parts catalog. The Aluminum trim on the steering is a $700 option! It also takes two hours to put it on! That is just NUTS.

I will wait for another parts company to make it. Sheesh!

Dont know what your dealer is talking about

Maybe a whole new steering wheel ?

The covers list price is 27 Euro, and from the instructions i have seen should be less than 30min to install

E90fleet is right there's no way that cover costs $700 .. sounds more like steering wheel/airbag price. I wouldn't trust any of the dealers to be that knowledgeable on this car yet, especially accessories etc... there's much more correct information on this forum and the internet.

Angry

In Hong Kong, the BMW dealer even cannot have us any option for the 1st shipment log. When I made the order in Mid/ March, I want the 18" 162 Rim, but they refused, the same as the i-Drive option....I have to choose between I want the 1st log shipment in May or wait for another 1~2 months for another shipment with some options available.....How bad is the service you can imagine the BMW dealer provides in Hong Kong.....

Thanks for the info, i will wait to see what happens. It sounds like they have to replace the steering or something to insert the Alum trim, but like you said, they probably have no idea what the heck they're talking about.

Hopefully its cheap.

You guys were right, the dealer was looking at the wrong part. It doesn't even exist here in the US. I might wait to see what aftermarket has to offer.
