when buying used cars what do u look for?

I am just trying to see if I am missing anything. So please feel free to add your thoughts and comments.

I look at
-mileage
-condition of car
-honesty of person selling it ( i have heard crazy stories like oh the car is not mine, it's my brother's cousin's aunt's ex bf's car etc.)
-accident history
-consistency in body color/paint/condition
-how many owners
-maint. history

i don't know tell me what else should i look at?

did a kid or an adult drive it. a kid probably pushed the car harder more often. not always the case but something to keep in mind

true, that's why i prefer non-modded cars also. Especially those that are not tasteful mods.

ALWAYS get a ppi from a qualified indie (or dealer) Expect to pay $250-300 for a thorough one. Take a paint meter to the body since a lot of accidents may never get recorded (on CarFax, Experian, etc.) If you suspect any body work but still like the car, take it to an auto body shop and let them look at it closely.

Biggest thing (and which seems to be the hardest for most people) is not to "fall in love" with what you see. Let your mind control your emotions. Tell yourself to be patient. Remind yourself that there are a lot of cars out there for sale, and that the right one will come along.....
