In your honest opinion, STETT CAI or aFe?

I will be running a PROcede

Thanks

what does rain have to do with anything? unless you have a lot of money, just go with the DCI.

well I've heard of rain screwing over people using the STETT CAI cause of the way it's positioned that's why

Injen?
I thought about it but 1) there aren't maybe people selling them and 2) I feel iffy mixing japanese products with BMW but that's only minor i guess

I seemed to gain power quite a bit up top, but seemed only to lose a few down low (but dyno of course!)

There were a few people (including myself) asking *if* standing water would be a problem, and everybody seemed to conclude that it's not an issue. The filter sits over 15" above the ground; the car can only drive through 12" of water (at a crawl) when bone stock. A guy in Singapore said he drives in rainstorms almost daily and hasn't had a problem... so it shouldn't be a factor in your decision.

A car here dyno'd w/the aFe at 437whp. nlakind dyno'd w/DCIs at 439whp. There are other posts on e90post that show cars w/the stock box dyno 400+. So, IMHO, it comes down to how much do you want to pay and how much do you care about the look of the intake? If you're worried about IATs... invest in a FMIC.

I'd go STETT. Never liked the idea of dual cones sitting under your hood. If we had a vented hood specifically for the DCI setup, Id run DCI.

I love the stett intake, I had afe and although they are pretty I don't like where the filters sit even in a heat shield.

DCI for sure... you won't make nearly as much power with the other two

Well, since from what I have read, the stock one is already extremely well engineered, so I am not looking for "27hp" increase or whatever aFe claims...
Hp gain, if any, with any system, won't be much. Not enough to feel anyways..

I am putting in a PROcede soon and was thinking that any increased flow would be good especially since the car would be performing above what it was originally engineered to do

A nice sound is something I am interested in.
My friends' (Japanese cars (350z, RSX, G35, evo) but...) cars have a nice uniqueness to them that stock ones don't, something that I have always liked.

Overall:
Improved airflow so that when I am using the PROcede, the engine won't suffocate; a nicer sound;
look? well, considering I almost never pop my hood, that won't be much of an issue.
Though, imo, the afe looks better than the bms...

The market I have seen so far:
150-250 for an aFe used
about 270 for a STETT 'new'

Retail: 400 aFe, 360ish STETT

aFe as of now, is cheaper... but the one that is better. that is the deciding factor...

the dinan certified mechanic near my home (i had first wanted to do dinan stage 2 but I'm not going to spend 2300 on it...) said that a DCI is, as mswcricle said, a HAI...

One thing I am concerned about though:
Installing it.

the aFe seems much more simpler to install versus the STETT
