aFe intake question
Okay
is this (http://www.jlevistreetwerks.com/p400...duct_info.html) the same as a aFe DCI or are they completely different... Sorry to sound like such a noob... but that's exactly what I am... I see aFe intakes for sale but I am not sure if they are cai or dci... Thanks in advance |

I believe AFE labels it as a CAI because of the heat shield. It is 2 cones though, for sure... so DCI = yes.
To me the AFE design looks like it will starve the rear filter and associated turbo from getting equal amounts of air (with the hood CLOSED). This is bad for twin turbo applications. There are some good and seemingly more bad dynos with AFE, and I would speculate the good dynos had the hood open. I hate to "bash" but AFE makes great intakes for many applications I just don't like this ONE. |

We have two of these installed on separate cars, a 135 and 335 and so far the progress and improvement have been noticeable. We haven't dynod the cars since the installation but we will be dynoing them with the other mods installed so any decrease in power from the aFe will have an effect. I am confident, based on my experience and dynos from customers that the intake is very effective.

I don't think it will starve the rear filter because when you are driving you have air flowing into the engine compartment and also the link between the two filters helps equalize air flow for both turbos.
