Software update question

Quick question. Was looking around the post couldn't get to much info for what I was looking for. I went to BMW today, car has very rough idle at times and times sounds like it is misfiring went starting. BMW said that my software is out of date and needs to be updated. I have a 2008 335 XI in service date 3/25/08. Has anyone updated there software? Is there and noticeable difference or is BMW just looking for a way to tell me f off. I also want to get the Vishnu chip so I'm not to sure if I were to update would if affect me in getting a chip?

Are there any other dealers you can take your car for a diagnosis?

I don't see how just a software update is going to fix your problem.

Could be a lot of things though, injectors, gas, plugs, HPFP.

It is not a bad thing to get the most updated software - The V3 is invisible with conservative maps or canbus code clearing.

I vote for keeping the original software you have on the car. Each newer version of BMW software looks harder for a tune. Im still rockin pre 29.2 and keeping it that way.
