Does anyone have an SSK for the e93?

Hey all,

I recently bought an OEM SSK for my e93 from another forum member.....who had an e92....

I tried to have it installed today, but once it was in, I could not get it into 2nd gear....it would rattle and just wouldn't throw into the "lower" gears (2nd, 4th).

I had it installed (attempted to, anyway) by a trusted mechanic, and we couldn't figure out why.....

Any ideas?

Thanks

Is there a specific one for the e93? The

E93s are a bit more rare but i highly doubt their mechanicals as far as the engine and trans go are much different than a 335i.

Check to make sure that the white plastic ring that holds the pivot ball is securely twisted and locked into place. If it is, you shouldn't be able to pull the shifter up out of its mount.

There's also a possibility it is installed backwards. I've not done much testing to see all the negatives of a backwards install but it's possible that pole might contact the carrier and somehow not allow it to go back enough to engage 2nd and 4th.

I'd suggest starting with pulling off the shifter boot, all of the foam and rubber insulation and just operate the shifter pole and look at it. It be should obvious if something (foam etc) is getting in the way of the pole not allowing it to traverse back far enough etc.

hey guys, thanks for replying...I tried the backwards install, but the shifter was sitting really far over to the right.....definitely not the way the arm should be sitting.....I didn't try driving it though......

The plastic ring was fine.....structurally, the shifter looked perfectly intact.....

I dunno if perhaps all the structural reinforcements on the convertible require a different assembly? I don't know....

But thanks for the
