Neutral to First (1st) Gear Quirck

I'm currently at 35,000 miles and the 2006 BMW 325i is about 3.5 years old.

When at a complete stop at a light, I put my manual shifter into neutral. When the light goes green, I step on the clutch and go to first gear.

Most times, it goes to first gear without any problems. Every once in a while, it seems to hit some kind of "wall" trying to go to first with the clutch down and I have to release the clutch and press the clutch again to go into first.

I don't remember this happening when I first bought the car. Is this normal to the wear and tear to clutches?

my 2007 335 had that from when it was new. It sounds like the syncro gears are wearing in a little but I don't think that it's your clutch.

Agreed, probably syncro wear and not the clutch.

I'm super newb when it comes to car mechanics. Is syncro wear something I should be concerned about?

Happens to me occasionally as well. I think its fairly normal, as every MT car I've had did that every once and awhile.

I experience this pretty much at every stop light in my 07 335i e92. I heel toe and give it just a little bit of gas (800-1000rpm) and it goes into 1st without a problem.

+1 a little gas should do it. it's just annoying as hell when it happens often.

This is completely normal. If the "wall" is really stiff try putting it in 2nd gear and then back in 1st
