Unhappy Help with wait....!

Ok, I admit it. I can't stand the wait. My car will be delivered sometime late next month. I'm am all about instant gradification. Every car I've ever bought has been right off the lot. I'm older now and this time I wanted exactly what I wanted. It's just the wait is killing me. I'm not even young and impatient. I'm 41 for gods sake. Any words to get me through would be great. I know there's really nothing you can do, I just wanted to vent to someone who might relate.

Thanks,
AS

Patience is vritue. You can come to NJ and I'll let you take my car for a spin

I bought my car off the lot so but I'm sure I would have been in the same position if I were you.

PS. Nice specs on the new car!

I'll cry with you brother (or sister). I've been waiting for mine since the first week of July and heard it's going to be the 25th or so (of Aug) before it gets to the dealership then another two days for random accessory installs. The only reason it hasn't been absolute hell is that I've been out on business for 3 full weeks. I don't think anything anyone can say will make it better. I just hope once I get it that I don't regret not buying the IS350 that they had on the lot in the exact config I wanted... we'll see.

HANG IN THERE!!!

If it makes you feel any better, we've all been through it. I was pulling my hair out. It is excruciating, yes, but the car will be that much sweeter when it gets here.

It could be worse.

Don't feel too bad, it could be worse.
I have to wait another 46 days to see mine!
And then, after driving it for a week I'll have to go back to the Jetta and wait another 6 - 8 weeks for re-delivery.

Hope this makes you feel better.

AS: As BK mentioned, most of us here have been through it. Think of it as an initiation rite. Waiting would make that eventual delivery day much, much sweeter. You'd feel differently for your car compared to 1 you'd pick off the lot.

I made the dealer throw in a 1:18 scale model of mine when I ordered. Looking at that sitting on my desk each day helped with the wait. Good luck and hang in there. I remember how slow those days seemed to tick by. It's definitely worth the wait.

Too bad you don't live closer I'd take you out for a spin as a teaser.. Anyone live out that way??

The wait sucks, good luck with it. And then once you hit a week away you get more and more anxious/excited you won't be able to sleep.. Then once you get it you won't be able to sleep for the first few days..

Good luck, it's worth the wait, to get the car exactly as you want it...

Suggestions = Keep as busy as possible. Go to the gym, keep moving. Physical activity helps take your brain off of it. If you're sitting around, you'll be thinking about it.

AS, I'm an old guy too, and fully understand your situation. I ordered mine last July 20th and took delivery on September 13th. Remember to "enjoy the journey." The wait is manageable, just spend your time here on E90Post. It really did help me with the wait. By the way, has you car been built? Is it on a ship? If so, which ship is it on? If you don't know your SA will, find out and let me know. We'll track the damn thing.

I feel your pain. I waited 8 months (yes 8 months) when I ordered my 330CI in 2000, but it was well worth the wait.
I had to wait around 2 months to get this new car and just when I thought I was not going to make it, I got the call.
The time will fly by and before you know it, you will get the call!

Looking at the "OC" it says it's "In Production". My oder went in August 5th. The dealer said it'll be "sometime" in Sept". I equate that to late Sept. So, how long i s the build? How long did most of you wait? Any help with the wait is very much appreciated.

Thanks all.

Read some of the tracking threads to learn how to track your car. Call the 1-800 number (see the sticky on the tracking forum) and you'll get more updated info than on the website. Best of luck!

If you ever worry you're thinking about it too much, just check out some of the "Who is on the XXX?" posts. You'll see you are not alone in obsessing over your new car.

You're right; no one can help you.

Most of us have gone through it.

The high side is that the pain of waiting passes fast once you get your car.

I can't remember the pain.

It must be like child birth.

IMHO, it's WELL worth the waite.

Make a mixed CD that you'll use on your first drive. Do it slowly, though... you have a 7 week wait.

When I read your post, I could completely relate. My wait was only about 30 days, and it's been gutwrenching to say the least. However, I was just told that it should be here ahead of schedule - as early as Thursday of this week. I was elated with the news. In other words, I pissed myself.

I basically spent a lot of time on this forum in preparation for my car's arrival. Also, I've managed to spend quite a bit of time doing research on wheels and accessories, and have the following en route:

19" M5 replica wheels & tires
18" wheels & winter tires
OEM Spoiler
Floor mats (rec'd)
BMW baseball cap
BMW pajama pants

Ok, the last two were jokes. In any case, I feel for you - I don't like waiting on anything. I almost feel like I'm at the mercy of a car salesman. He's like frickin' Santa Claus to me.

Now that I'm on the home stretch, it doesn't seem like it was so bad. Just be thankful you have a brand new BMW that's making its way to you. That, and buy some stuff. Buying stuff makes me happy.

Look up the E- owners manual that is posted in the forum. That should keep you busy for a while.
