tightening plate on steering wheel - disconnect battery?
If i'm just tightening the steering wheel plate, should I disconnect the battery? I don't want to have to re-program the stations and all of the settings in idrive. It's just annoying. Yes, this sounds lazy, but it's hard to get all those settings just the way I like them.
My m steering wheel was installed by someone else and I'm noticing the m plate surround (plastic piece that looks like a "U") is a little loose on the right side only. I guess the torx screw on the back is what needs to be tightened, correct? I won't have to remove anything else to do this, so I don't have to disconnect the battery right? Please no better safe than sorry comments. Hopefully somebody knows exactly how it works and if I really need to. Thanks |

I wouldn't chance it and disconnect the battery. Takes all of 1 minute.
I replaced my wheel trim and even then I disconnected battery. Last thing I want is my face to cave in at a strange angle because I was too lazy for a 1 minute job. |

I'm not 100% sure but It's better to remove hte better. The guy who replaced my windshield took the battery out before he removed the A pillar cover I believe.
