Whip damaged at car wash today

Took my car the Progressive Auto Wash in Totowa, NJ today. Excellant car wash... never had a problem here.
Long story short... my car goes in dirty, comes out clean, but has a 2"x2" spot on the front aero lip where all the paint is removed. Just cleanly removed striaght down to the black abs material. You can tell by looking at it that it was a paint defect.
I had the boss check the tape, since they had a camera that views all of the cars going in, and you can see that the spot wasnt damaged as it entered.

I bought the lip from Exquisite Motor Sports (from e90post) about a 6 weeks ago. Does anyone know if they guarantee their paint work like most vendors on the board do?

I just searched through the vendor threads, and cant seem to find Exquisite on there. I'd like to PM or call them and see what they can do.

Probably cheap clear coat. I would PM them, but then again going through an automated ca wash is kind of harsh on the paint.

the OP should be able to go to auto car wash if he doesnt mind small clear coat scratches, and not be afraid that chunks of paint will come off like it's something that always bound to happen in places like that. It's about shitty paint job, not about the type of carwash.

Yea, its def not the wash. Its the paint. High end cars are always at this wash (ie. ferrari, lambos, bentley, etc.) Never heard of anyone having a problem with them or the wash.

I just cant find any post from the vendor I bought from. Id like to contact them and see that the deal is.

Anyone know what a body shop would charge just to repaint the front lip?

+1

Though as someone who enjoys detailing, fully automatic washes are a HUGE no-no.

yah but who has time these days to detail a car. And no one does it for a reasonable price. They see you have a BMW and they wanna charge u an arm and a leg. They almost charge as much a mechanic does that fixes a car

Yeah I hear what you're saying. Don't have to do a total detail though, a quick wash doesn't take much more than 1/2 hour. It's quick and easy providing you have access to a hose and a place to do it.

Funny thing is, I do usually just wash the car myself. Ill only take it to a car wash for a quick wash if I dont have the time, ya know.

Anyway... PM'd the vendor. We'll see what they say.

I took it to a body shop before just to see what they'd what to repaint it, and he laugh. Said " who'd you have paint this, some retard from the local Lincoln Tech?". He said there was no primer and looked like it was just one coat of paint over the lip material.

Ask Indiana Jones where he gets his "whip" washed at. I'm sure he's had this problem before.
