what are the list of fluids the car needs to be maintained on? the obvious would be engine oil and washer fluid but what about the others in detail? how often do we have to maintain them?
1. engine oil: 5k miles 2. washer fluid: n/a (whenever needed) 3. transmision oil: ??? 4. brake: ??? 5. power steering: ??? 6. radiator: ??? 7. differential (if applicable): ??? any other fluids i'm missing?

do the auto tranny fluid not need replacing as i only see bmw tranny fluid for 6mt.
also the stock 335i has a diff in which the diff fluid needs to be maintained? not sure if there is a difference between a diff and an lsd so had to ask.

Brake fluid is supposed to be every 24 months, but I think will stretch it to 36.

maint. is pretty straightforward on most of the cars
1. engine oil: 5k miles (if you drive hard and wanna support the oil/gas corps) otherwise 7500k between is sufficient 2. washer fluid: n/a (whenever needed) if you live in an farm community and there a lot of insects.. j/k 3. transmision oil: ??? automatics have lifetime fluid -- no matter what jiffy lube wants to tell you.. the getrag 6mt is durable and no maint reqs apply unless you constantly miss shifts and grind gears -- yes there is a magnet to keep the particles from traveling around for too long. 4. brake: ??? bmws interval is 2yr and be mindful if you are always pulling your car down from warp speed, i would stay on track with that number 5. power steering: ??? the system does not have an interval -- you'll probably replace it when your hi pressure hose/ or suction hose (from the reservior) starts to leak -- if at at all. 6. radiator: ??? this baby has a 3yr interval this too is good to follow if your are in very hot or very cold climates 7. differential (if applicable): ??? this again has no interval .. if the diff ever goes south (growling/rumbling noises) you'll get it changed then. it used to be every second inspection2 - every 60km. but alas no more hope this helps |

I just changed my oil at 6500 miles and it was pitch black... I think I'm going to reduce that interval to 5000 miles since I live in a harsh environment (dusty/hot).
Oil: 5000 miles Manual Trans: 3 years/45k miles Coolant flush: 4 years/50k miles Power Steering: 5 years/60k miles Brake fluid: Before every track event or once a year Diff: 5 years/60k miles I don't plan on keeping the 335 that long but I still like to properly maintain my car. The factory oil change intervals are total BS. Proof that accountants can win over the engineers is here... http://www.billswebspace.com/335OA35k.jpg |
