Clicking noise coming from under the hood
I was on my way home with the windows down when I heard a clicking noise. I turned off the music and listened closely and heard it was coming from under the hood. I'm pretty sure it was coming from the engine. Just was wondering if anyone else had this problem. The car has around 17k miles on it 2007 328i.

I had the same issue. My stealer bled lines and this made the problem better. (Not a complete fix) If you bring it to them should be a known issue.

o btw this shouldn't have anything to do with the intake I just put in about a month ago should it? Its a Simota CB2, but I couldn't really see the ticking noise originating from the intake, or could it?

Cylinder head change? For a sticky lifter?
I must've been sleeping when all this went down: just what's the problem with the sticky lifters--does it eventually cause damage?

Im getting mine changed as i write. The problem is there is not enough oil lubricating the lifters, sometimes even air gets trapped with the moving oil to the lifters therfore creating the ticking noise. Its a known issue. I honestly think that yes it can cause damage since the parts dont get lubricated properly.

I had/have the same issue on my 08' 328xi. I took it to the dealer and the bled the lifters. This made the ticking go away for a few months. I still hear it every now and then but I don't worry about it too much. BTW, it's much worse when it's cold out.
