Powder Coated M Rims on Roadster

Picked up my 06 M Roadster last week and the car had a few curb rashes on the wheels from the previous owner. I loved the stock rims..just figured since the price is about the same might as well go for a color change =)

Seen a few request pictures so maybe this should help, what do you think?

i paid 70 bucks per wheel and that includes taking tires off and remounting/rebalancing after the powder coat..

The brake dust was getting to me also and since I figured it was 60 bucks to repair the curb rashes on the rim or 70 bucks to repair and powdercoat...my choice was easy =)

Wow, looks great prophetx, and for a great price, Best price I was quoted was 139 per wheel in Houston.

Looks dark but not too dark very tasteful. For a minute there I thought you had powdercoated your own rims (cuz this is in the DIY section). That would be a feat!

Out of curiosity did you have to buy those small M stickers again or did you remove them before powdercoating and replace them again afterwards?

I had to buy those small m stickers again but only because one fell off. They used silicone glue to hold it in but during my ride home it must of came loose (I got them powder coated and drove home on the same day).

And when i posted this i didn't think it was in the DYI section lol..wish i could move it =)

mims...i was recommended to someone to do some minor damage and paint work...he fixed my bumper that i was quoted to replace w/used and repainted for $600...gas tank panel damage quoted $300 (i pulled out of the gas station with the pump still on...cell phone dummy) and ended up doing both sideskirts...all for $800...the more stuff you do at once the cheaper it is I guess...I just hit a jag last week so getting more work done now..said he'd fix the rash on my wheels for $65 each and if you want to have them redone another color it would be $100 each...didn't do it as I'm on the fence about new rims/tires...but does fantastic work...i'll try and have pics soon...

New Image Touch Up..Juan Jimenez and comes out to your place to do it... has an austin # but in Houston...512/589-1887...post pics if you end up doing it..

Thanks dude, I'm gonna ask for some price quotes after the holiday weekend but will definitely check them out. Do you have any pics of your car? Would love to see how his work turned out.

I'm assuming he can do the installs for aerosills too. I'm debating whether I should do it myself or I'm feeling lazy.

wow, those look great! I have an Alpine White Z4M as well and am looking into different rims. The difference with mine is the tan top. I wonder if doing something like this would look as good on mine due to the tan top instead of black.

prophetx2, what color is that powder coat? I have a black M roadster and wondering if I should do the same or go with darker color like midnight blue(not sure if I can it in this color) or black. Can they also anodize wheels? I'm not a wheel person so I ask. Don't know if they anodize wheels.

I will have to search this...but maybe make a new post too if no one else responds...but any side effect of using spacers to bring the wheel out more? Save to the same as a 285 wheel for the rear and 235/245 wheel in the front? I'm looking for nice wheel...but the stock looks pretty good...so why speed $2K plus unless new wheels really impresses you. I'll save it for body, suspension, or engine work after warranty is over.

i forgot what that color is called, i believe it's just gun metal. You can call them up and ask, he's a pretty cool guy. Lots of wheels were there when i went so I kinda got an idea of how it would turn out.

I don't think they anodize. The wheel has held up fine for my cross country move/trip. So no issues thus far

Very nice man....I want to go black on mine also.
Why Poweder coting - and not spray painted, I also thought about Powder coating, but my mates recon it will add a lot of weight.
