Opinions please from those who have a clear bra

I am planning on having a clear bra installed this Friday by a cert. Clear Shield tech. I am trying to decide if I should get the hood covered to the extended length or just get the standard coverage. Any opinions from those who have one?

Wouldn't do the hood. The glass if front and the whole front to the hood. The front takes a beating from road debris so does the hood but not nearly as much. They tell you it won't discolor the hood but our local Zymol guy says different. It will probably discolor the bumper but to a lesser degree and it beats having a bunch of pit marks from the road debris. IMHO

I have my hood covered about 5 inches past the emblem. Thats really all you will need and then the whole front of the car and the mirrors. I love the clear bra and it works and saves my ass constantly. No more chips

YOU NEED TO GET ATLEAST UP TO THE EMBLEM COVERED ON THE HOOD. Otherwise you will get chips on the hood and it will look stupid.

I had my mercedes covered for two years and when i sold it i took the the bra off and there was no discoloration. Only on shitty film it might but if its the top of line stuff there is no way anything is harmed. There should also be a lifetime warranty.

The place I am having it done at charges 750.00 for the hood, bumper, fenders and mirrors. They are a reputable detail shop and I have seen their work.

Thanks for the opinions I think I will go with just the standard hood coverage.

the hood, fenders & mirrors are easy... couple hours tops.

the front bumper... a real pain. the bumper will take about 2 hours... if not more.

Whether or not the clear bra is worth it really depends on YOU! If its a lease and/or you're not fanatical about your car, its definitely NOT worth it. If you own it and you are a fanatic, get it. Just know clear bras are NOT perfect. Hard hits can mark and rip them, juicy bugs can stain them, you CAN see the seams, and anything less than a perfect install looks like sh*t.
I had only my bumper done by a expert installer using a single custom installed piece of material, because I didn't want any seams showing. In hindsight, preventing the front edge hood chips would have been a really good idea too. Make sure you get a top installer and he uses a film with NO orange peel appearance!

Where in NJ did you get your clear bra installed?

After owning my vehicle for the past several years without this protective coating, I will likely get the clear bra for my new Bimmer because the front end of my current car looks terrible. What is the typical price range for having the clear bra placed on the front of a 3-series with the assumption of top-of-the-line material and an experienced person placing it on the car? And are there shops with national chains that offer this service?

Here is the DIY for the hood! I would recommend getting it. Will not turn yellow when removed per warranty! Had Xpel for years with great success. You should get the headlight kit BTW! For the hood if you car is dark then entire if you can or the longest. If you have AW get the 10 inch I believe that's the length since the clearbra will show more on a lighter car than a darker one. Good luck! http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=clear+bra+101

Do the easy stuff yourself and let them do the rest. The bumper is the really hard part. Well actuall the pieces that fit around the corners were a bitch but the other 2 pieces were pie!

I have the regular size covering the hood. No need to get the extra coverage for the hood. Its already saved me a few stone chips. The 3M product is great so far. I've had it for 7 months now. No complaints.
