Scratch tint issues

From searching around the forums I see that people recommend Joe @ The Tint Shop in Great Neck.
I have had my tint redone twice already due to the scratches that appear from the plastic weatherstrip in the door panels. The shop I normally use is in Amityville and I'm tired of driving out there. When I spoke to them last they were unfamiliar with using the feld to line the door panel. However they have redone the tint both times with no money out of pocket.
This leads me to my question... Can Joe install the feld strips to resolve the scratched tint issues? I'm also going to have to redo all 4 windows.
Has anyone dealt with him recently that can offer any advise?

I had my windows tinted a month ago and both front windows already have scratches. Please keep us posted on how it turns out and how much $$ it ends up costing you to remove and redo the tint!

Thanks.

Whos Joe? Getting tint tomorrow. Will have felt on all four doors. From what I have read, I dont know why anyone would not do this. Definately worth the $ IMO

The windows were stripped and retinted last Sat. Felt strips were added as well.
Final test will be waiting until I can crack the windows open.

Keep us posted on you findings. I am also getting hairline scratches from the windows that I routinely roll down a lot on the tint film. My tint shop has redone my car already and cleaned the inside of the trim gripping the window but I'm still getting the scratches.

The shop did recommend felt but I haven't gone that route yet. Hope your car works out!

I had the tint shop give me one of the strips they removed and it's actually pretty big, but like I said no issues yet.

Once you have the strip out you'll see why your windows are scratching so bad...it's really hard plastic that rubs right up against your tint. Great design.
From what I observed the door panel does not have to be removed

My tinted windows were badly scratched. The dealer retinted the windows after I complained. A day later, I installed the felt from www.tintprotector.com. I'll post some pics of the strip before, during and after install. I removed the door panels. No more vertical scratches.

Rolled the windows down for the first time since the retint. The felt strips pulled away and left glue reside all over the rear set of windows. Luckily no scratches in the tint.
No issues with the front set of windows.
I'm going to have Joe remove the second plastic weatherstrip from all four doors. Looks like the rear set of windows will have to be tinted again.

Thats what happens when tinters use cheap moleskin. Tintprotector's felt has special adhesive. I've rolled down my windows many many times with no problems.

I had Joe remove the second weatherstrip, looks like this FINALLY has resolved the issue.
Kudos to Joe for seeing this through!

Here is an update on the TintProtector felt.
I had the dealer redo my 3M tint after noticing that the tint was getting scratched. I had many vertical lines/scratches on all my window. Since installing the felt, I do not have any tint scratches. I roll my windows up and down a lot.
Here are some pics of my install which was pretty straightforward. You have to remove the door in order to pull off the rubber seal.
The seal has two rubber strips. The top thinner strip has felt from the factory. The thicker lower second strip is rubber only. This is where dirt can accumulate which scratches the tint.
I went with TintProtector felt since after researching the problem I found out that cheaper felt/moleskin may not adhere to the strip properly.
