Looks like EAS in So Cal can do it for you. http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...0&postcount=35

I'm still not clear myself on a DIY solution--the "vinyl" method looks a bit iffy. My wife--the queen of crafting and cut to size and heat gun expert--doesn't think it's an easy application and lots of chance to mess up. Maybe that's not the case--but I can't find anything to suggest otherwise. Maybe some actually did a DIY vinyl but I can't find actual pictures/DIY either using the native search function or Google + site:www.m3post.com.

Looks like it's quite pricey to go with replacement trim. Maybe someone at EAS can talk me down on the price...I hate the chrome.

Looks fantastic. I wish I weren't over 400 miles away! But the OP is right near you. Anyone know a good shop that does this kind of work near Sacramento?

ok i did it and will have pics as soon as I get around washing the car... I was getting really impatient with the whole thing... best tools to use are rubber wedges, a blade obviously, and a rubber squeegee, usually used for tinting..

That actually looks pretty good.

I'm not sure it would look right on a red car though. Maybe the darker colors.

I would love to get EAS to do this for me but I'm in the Bay area. Does anyone up here do it?

Not that I know of. You could get an autobody shop to take it off; paint it; put it back on. SlammedM3 did that and I think it was about 500 Canadian dollars.

+1
I had it done the same week I got the car. Still can't understand how it doesnt come black from factory. But whatever, to anyone with the slighest bit of good taste, will have vinyled or painted.

It was a little over $500, I think closer to $650 or so. All the pieces are removable except for the 3 pieces on the actual hardtop itself. those were painted on the car

I decided to try this out myself for fun since I didn't want to drive down to LA and get EAS to do it. I bought a 15"x30' roll of flat black vinyl from a local sign shop. You will need this much since you will probably screw up once or twice per piece. I've covered most parts already and it's working pretty well so far. I've been getting some air bubbles but they're not that visible really. Make sure you get the high quality outdoor vinyl as thin as possible.
I'll post some pics when I finish. I am very happy with the results.
