Just wanted to say hello to everyone

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

My name is Ben.

I just traded my 2007 A3 3.2 S-line for a 2009 135i (alpine white, coral red, M sport and premium package).

Hi Nick: I will take some this weekend. I got it off the lot. I'm only missing idrive and Ipod if I ordered the car. I'm hoping navi can be retrofitted.

Hi Penny: Here's the comparison based on 2 days ownership. No flaming please.

Interior design and ergonomics - A3 wins, it is simpler and very usable. It actually had a lot of little nice things you don't notice until you get into another car. The A3 had cargo hooks for groceries, etc. The 135i does not.

Exterior design - I prefer the A3. The 135i is the best looking current BMW IMHO. Again, I like the simple lines.

Drivability - 135i is fun to drive, it has a lot of power. Steering is weighted and very responsive. The A3 had DSG so it was fun to drive as well. I think the BMW has the edge here. I also love the big brakes on the 135i.

Audi Raintronic vs BMW Auto wiper - Audi wins

I bought the 135i knowing that I needed to compromise a lot of the things I loved about Audis. I have been on the VAG side since 2000.

Again..no flaming. We all have reasons why we love a particular brand. You just got a taste of mine

Ben

Ditto. BTW, I've found western MD to be a great area for breaking in a new BMW.
Enjoy.

As long as you get off I70/I68, almost anything west of Frederick will put you on twisty mountain roads.

Or you could try the Catoctin mountains west and north of Thurmont. I'd recommend a loop heading west on Rt.77 off US 15 and then north on 491 to 550.

And if you are really ambitious, have you driven the 470 mile Blue Ridge Parkway from Charlottesville, VA to the Smokies in NC?

All of these are great driving roads and good for break-in as they allow for a lot of speed and throttle variation.

135 posts, that's a weird coincidence. I just checked and you're right. How did you find me on fourtitude?

Hey I almost bought a 2009 Audi A3 3.2. I would agree the Audi is a much nicer car ergonomically. But I made the mistake of test driving a 135i the day I test drove the Audi.

I bought a 135i because of the power...nice to see you have better reasons than I do.

I have to agree, just last week I was in the Thurmont area and then the Catoctin - swallow falls area and my 135 was loving it! Hum, so was I.
the roads are great. The back roads aren’t narrow or lopsided or raggedy. It seems like they were all just paved. I am going back soon. God bless Maryland roads.

Catoctin Mtn is an awesome drive! Have to pick the best time, as there are a lot of looky lous driving minivans that stop at every slight turn to take a picture or just - well, maybe check the brakes, especially thru the park. There's some cool stuff to get out and look at as well.
