Elite Warranty
Hi guys....
I need some advice here. I have a 2005 e90 320i, and purchased in Dec. With the purchase, the dealer threw in an Elite EMW warranty. 2 months later, and the bluetooth stops working, I take it into BMW Melbourne, who tell me the ULF module needs replacing...something like $1700!! So, I thinks to myself, I'll just claim that on the warranty, I mean, that's what's it for, yes? Well, they reject the claim, because the warranty stipulates that they exclude sound systems from coverage. I rang both BMW Melbourne, and the Genuine Parts division of BMW Australia, who tell me that the bluetooth system is not part of the "sound system" at all. They were both quite adamant in this assertion, the BMW Parts codes for a start are not similar. I am going to take this to Consumer Affairs, but I wanted to get your opinions on this... Do I have a leg to stand on, does it matter what BMW decide at all, can Elite just declare that THEY consider bluetooth to be part of this mysterious "sound system", and as such don't have to cover it? Can they in fact declare any random bit of the car as "part of" another part they don't cover? Are ELITE generally OK to deal with? Thanks in advance |
