Clear Protective Bra

My gf wants that clear protective bra that goes over the front of the car to stop "nics and dents" for her X5. My dealership doesnt do it as of right now, does anyone know a place in the chicagoland area that does?

you're probalby one of them greasy hair dudes that wait forever to dish out a line like that at bars eh?

to the OP: a lot of window tint places do it as well, because dealerships contract out tints/clearbras to those shops. I don't know any in IL, but as around, or visit tint shops.

It is better to have a certified 3-M installer put on the clear bra. This is not an experience you want to do yourself, unless you are a fan of air bubbles.

I've received several quotes (Xpel). $650 appears to be the best I can do for the bumper cover, and the extended hood and fenders with mirrors. Of course I have to travel 3 hours to get this deal. Local guy wants $825.00

650.00 is a great deal, even though I only paid 375.00 for mine because my friend did it.

That pricing is hideous.. $425 for me here, and the guys are hardcore perfectionists.. their facility is right between the Porsche & BMW dealerships in Snottsdale, they'd never get away with being less than perfect up there.

Shop around - $650 is high, $825 is insulting.

425.00 is dirt cheap. Most places do charge about 700 to 750 for that kit. But its always nice to get it cheaper.

I will buy the kit and install it myself. I will save $500.

Patience plus a lot of slip solution and I should be fine!

Hi. I live in Aurora/Naperville. I just had my clear bra installed last Wednesday by www.bodyskins.com. Rick is amazing and is probably the best clear bra installer in Illinois. Call him and he is very patient in answering all your questions. I had 3M installed on a Jet Black E90. Looks awesome. I can't even see it. Rick does stuff other installers don't do. Like hiding the line around the Headlight washers because he takes the washers out to install the film. He knows what he's doing. Tell him Sandeep sent ya.

Won't the clear bra make the protected paint so protected that when you un-bra it some time in the future, you'll see the paint color/perfection difference compared to those unprotected areas?

Doubtful. And why would you ever "un-bra" anyways? Trust me, once you have this stuff on your car, you'll never want another car without it. My last car was my first with it and I'll *never* get another new car without adding it immediately - it's that good.

Ive done certain pieces myself, but never the bumper. I highly recommend you get it professionally done, unless you have skills for this, then give it a shot.
