325d and 335d E90's

Hi All,

Just noticed on the car configurator that the 325d and 335d can now be spec'd up couple of new options too by the looks of it DAB Radio, Semi Automatic Seats seem two that I saw. These models do not appear in the model range page yet though.

Didn't realise the 325d, 330d and 335d are all 2993cc engines. I appreciated the 335d was the 3.0 with two turbos but the 325 must be de-tuned or smaller turbo.

Interesting to see how the diesel range has shaped out, hope they don't drop the 330d seeing as I've just ordered one but looking at the range don't see that happening........I would hope

This is info is on the BMW UK Site

Were you hoping for a 2.5litre diesel as opposed to 3.0l detuned, is the tax in Norway based on cc?

Good find!! I'm a bit disappointed by the 335d's spec, though: only 580Nm and 0-100kph in 6.2? I was expecting 600Nm & 6 seconds dead. Also, the tyre sizes are wrong (fronts should be 235s) and they seem to be putting 18" tyres on 17" rims...

Given that it's basically the same engine as the 330d, I wonder if a retro conversion would be feasible. Is it just a case of bolting on another turbo?

I was supprised I'll await the mag's speed for the 335d as it's "only" .5 of sec quicker according to those specs to 62 than a 330d but it doesn have 80NM more torque so I guess it will feel very quick in gear.

That is pain it's amazing the different tax schemes each country has and the metrics used this isn't a BMW but Lotus have bought out a car that is 1794cc weighs 860kg and has 134bhp surely that would be ok Not very practical granted but nippy round town

Apologies for car manufacturer I do appreciate it's a E90 forum

AS said in the past in one post, i am sure that the torque of the 335d have to be limited in order to be installed on a e90 frame....

As usual it is the same 3.0l engine, but with 2 stages turbo, much bigger cooling (engine and turbo intercooling), reinforced clutch (and transmission?) and may be different injector...So i think a retrofit is impossible

Is it the same engine as the 330d though ?

The 535d uses the older diesel engine employed in the first e60 530d (218hp)

The 535d manages 272hp / 560nm and the 335d will do 286hp / 58nm so it's going to be more powerful - is that because it has the new engine from the current 330d / 530d - in which case that would be very interesting.

Good points there I say BMW should stop messing us about and just install the V8 diesel from the 7 series, then we'd know where we stood

Keep in mid that 335d is auto-tranny only. That means it's 0.6 sec quicker than 330d. That's a lot!

Also, front tyres on M-sport 17" and 18" (and all other staggered configurations) are 225s. So, !

Edit: I'm quite disappointed, too! 325d has only 400nm torque? WTF? It's a 3000cc.

'Apparently' it doesn't fit in the 5 series (but I think that's bollocks cause they managed to get a V10 in the M5).

Anyway - I've found the answer to my own question:

The 335d will be based on the current 330d engine so it will have an all alluminium cylinder block and piezzo electric ignition AND it will be some 27 kg lighter than the one in the 535d.

All good really

Considering it's 5.0 secs in the 330d I am also a bit surprised by this.

I think the 335d will be available only with AT. It would be a bit faster and go under 6.0 sec with manual tranny. It will be awesome with that 580Nm torque I'm sure.

I would be pretty happy even having the 330d's performance 50-75 mph on 4th gear...
