Canadian Black Book Numbers are now available
That's it folks!
So if you want to find out just how much your car has declined in value since that precious day you first drove it off the lot.... Go to toyota.ca or the GM website and look for the "Appraise your car" tab. From there you're taken off-site and granted a temporary licence to use CBB. You enter your year, type, and mileage, and it tells you approximately the Black Book value of your car. So my car that cost me 46k (53k with tax!!!) last November, that I have 35,000kms on now, is worth about 32k!

My car was ~$41,500... it now has 21500kms:
Value according to KBB: Low: $32,075.00 High: $34,195.00 So that would be $47,725 with tax, minus even the highest value I'd be at over $1000/month in depreciation. |

down at the bottom of the page is the link to appraise your trade in.. I find those #s are usually ultra conservative. |

Yes but it's what the dealer will give you as trade in. If you sell it yourself, of course you can get more. |

My car was (if memory serves) $49k, before taxes. With 25,000kms I get:
Low: $35,007.00 High: $37,337.00 What's interesting though is that its a lease and the residual is about $30k, and we're not even a year in yet. So BMW maybe will lose some money on this lease, which is OK by me. -Tim |

I have access to the blackbook not thru Toyota. And there is a big difference. The Toyota one is around 4-5k less on their values. Obviously the dealership (stealership) will give you less on the trade, so the values are less on their website. Yes you would get more if you sold it private, and yes the dealership would jack up the price of your trade by like 5k once you traded it in. We all know dealerships make waaaay more money on used cars than new.

Yeah yo git that right!! with all them driving youse doing, if you owned a GM car you would owe GM money right now, instead of having more than 50% in your pocket!!!. When you live in the country and work in the City you got to take the pain man. BTW I am renting...my car was delivered into my hands last October and now has 4,600kms man I should have bought it. |

Don't forget that these are trade in values and that you will also save on the taxes if you actually traded it in. This means that if you got 34,195 trading it in you would also save almost $4800 in taxes for a total of almost $39,000. Still a good chunk of cash lost but not quite as bad as you thought. You always take a big loss during the first year. Also, let's not forget that the original price you paid includes freight, pdi, air and tire tax as well as any other "admin" fees that the dealership charged which are lost as soon as you drive off the lot (unless the price you gave doesn't include these). |

Call me completely ignorant and surprised....never in my wildest dreams did I think that CBB would alter their figures for a brand-specific link!! That is wild. You are Canadian, right? So do you think if I compare my toyota CBB with GM or Dodge I would get different figures for each?????

If any dealer pulls the CBB out to tell you what your vehicle's worth, tell them you'll walk unless they ignore it.
Think of it: CBB is populated for DEALERS use. Of course they're going to supply the producers of CBB with low ball # to begin with. Talk about conflict of interest. |

Scan it, then I'll believe it. $54975 is absolutely ridiculous. Nobody in this world, let alone a dealer, would pay that much. Please, prove me wrong and scan your Black book. I've checked the Toyota black book against the real one, and it seems pretty accurate.
