Need assistance with removal of stock orange reflector

HELLLLLPPPP!!!!

I tried to remove the stock painted reflector and it wouldn't budge. I don't want to keep jamming a screwdriver in between the reflector and the bumper. I checked the DIY for this and it's pretty lousy. Can anyone give any pointers on how to properly remove the painted reflector.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i didnt use a screwdriver. What i did was push on the bumper under the relfector, then i had enough room to stick my fingers and sort of push the reflector towards the top right corner. I did use a bit of force but everything came out fine.

It was almost like i was pulling on the reflector up and out.

Uggg.....same issue here. I'm almost tempted to wait until the temp is ~25C to do this.

When I did mine it was cold (even in my Garage) The bumper did not have much play. I was able to wedge underneath with my finger a thin platic card (cant remember might have been the aeroplan card). I put a microfibre cloth behind it. Once I was able to get the bottom of the reflector come out a bit I was able to push up on it and it popped out pretty easy. You could also use a flathead screwdriver rested against the card to make it easier. The second one seemed much easier (passanger side).

All for not though - no more reflectors for me!!!!

I struggled with this too. It seemed at the time I was doing it that the force necessary to pop out the reflectors was going to end up causing some sort of damage to the bumper.

I wish I had a magic bullet method to give you that will make this easier but I don't. Rest assured that if you follow the directions found on this and other forums, you will succeed. Just be sure to be patient, take your time, tape up the screw driver (if you choose to use that method), and don't try to rush this as you will end up scratching or marring the paint on your bumper.

Let us know how it works out for you.

Good luck.

just be patient... its difficult to get the reflector out because they made it that way so it wont fall off so easily. just be patient and use a flat head and push the stock reflector up. get someone else to help you with another flat head to pry out the stock reflector once you have pushed it up. so you'll need 2 flat heads and a friend. then youre done!! not that difficult to do!

Nevermind, I figured it out. The trick is to wedge the longer side of a credit card or a plastic card underneath the reflector. Once the card is wedged in there, then you have to wiggle and push the reflector upwards. After a few tries they poped right out.

Thank God

Glad it worked out for you. Hopefully not too much damage was done that can't be polished or buffed out.

I just switched my reflectors on Sunday and I had the same problem at first. I came back in and found this thread which really helped. I used the butt end of a screwdriver to "push" in the bumper right below the reflector (of course I used a micro-fibre cloth between them) because my thumb could not move the bumper enough when it was cold and then I was able to slide my finger in to lift the reflector out. I never would have figured it out on my own.
