I got rear-ended badly on Saturday

I was stopped on Pacific Coast Highway in Newport Beach...I look in my rearview mirror and think to myself that guy is going very fast for how close he is to me. Then...BOOM. Smack into my stopped car. Whole rear bumper is messed up, exhaust is loose, parking sensor is out, etc. What a horrible feeling.

The worst part is the guy did not speak english, did not have a driver's license, and his insurance (under his mom's name) was expired. I have no idea what's gonna happen now...hopefully there is some coverage somewhere.

I took some pics but they are on my home computer, will upload the painful damage later...

EDIT: Pics...

Hey if you get lucky maybe the prick lives in Newport Beach, and you can take part of the Monetary damages from his residence.

look at it this way, you can get an aftermarket exhaust and mtech kit if you wanted to.

In Southern California your odds are good that if you get hit, it will be by an illegal alien. Best of luck with the outcome.

Yes, my uncle who lives in Cali has told me this many a times, he does not go driving unless it is absolutely necessary.

I'd kill that kid in court, but I'm an asshole. Good luck with whatever you do.

Ouch - so sorry to hear. As long as you are ok (mental anguish notwithstanding). This happens all too frequently.

I do, 15k per person and 30k per accident. However, isn't that for bodily injury? I didn't know it applied to just car damage.

i'm pretty sure he was an illegal. He was begging me not to call the cops and offering me cash. After a brief moment of actually considering this, I got wise and called in for a cop to do the report.

I think the worst case scenario, if he is not insured, is I have to pay my $500 deductible and my insurance takes care of the rest.

Yes, that would be "uninsured or underinsured".

Oh, so it's not common for an accident to be caused by an American citizen? You American Cali drivers must all be excellent drivers and not cause accidents. Yet another reason to transport the illegals back to Meheko. Once that is done then there should be no accidents in S. Cali from then on!
Yeah, that's the ticket. I'm sure that's correct.

Sorry to hear about your accident. He's lucky he didn't hit a pedestrian or motorcyclist. His citizenship has nothing to do with this.

Just make sure you report this incident to your insurance company in a timely fashion. You'll take a hit on the deductible, but then again as Long implied, this may give you a good excuse to add an aftermarket part such as a rear bumper cover.

No, but his illegal status (if that´s the case) DOES have a lot to do with this.

It is estimated that there are 1 million drivers in california who are in the country illegally. They should not be driving if they cannot get insurance. That´s all.
