Would not expect to see more than $1000 below MSRP on this new model.

To give an idea of what sort of discounts are available in the UK, I basically got the Professional Sat Nav for free. Some UK internet brokers are showing this as being at the lower end of discount scale, with suggestions of there being a bit more to bargain for.

With this so squarely priced against an M3 I would not be surprised to see some good deals coming up towards the end of the year.

I just don't see myself saying no to an M3 in favour of the Z4 for the same $$.

I just configured an M3 Conv. with same options and it is 69.5K So, about 5K more. Not much of a delta. This new Z4 must be one hell of a car!

Or as they say in the south "They sure are proud a that car, ain't they?"

My short list at the moment is:

E92 M3 $65-67k
E89 Z4 ~$64k
F355 GTB $60-70k

Yes, you can pick up a Ferrari F355 for the same price as a new Z4 (just check www.autotrader.com). Now obviously maintenance and insurance is going to be more, but then you won't have as much depreciation.

I guess a 2 seater roadster should command a small premium over the 4 seater E93 335i, so maybe the issue isn't so much the high price of the Z4, but the relative bargain that the M3 is.

yikes! $64k for a Z4?! and they thought it was hard to sell them when they were "just" $45k...

i can't wait to see the first sales report...my guess is the number will be <200.

LOL $64K for it???
I would totally take TTs / SLK AMG / Cayman / M3 / Vett or whatever's out there in $60k's range even if they cost little more than z4.
Hell no Z4 worths more than $60k.

To add to this list:

In Switzerland I managed to get roughly 8.2% discount and I am not paying the fees to get the car on the road.

In Germany 8 to 10% would be in the normal range with a local dealer; some internet based dealers offer the car with 13 to 14% discount.

Seems that US dealers need to learn a lot while prices start moving towards European levels.
