Anyone Exploring Lease Rates on the E92?

I just started talking with my dealer about it and the outlook is grim. Standard rates from BMWFS which are way high. Looking like at least $800 a month with tax here in AZ... For anyone thinking of leasing one, see what you dealer is estimating, because this took me out of contention for one. I am not paying more than I did for the Z06 for this car. Just ludicrous.

So now I am looking at a Z4 3.0si for like 24 to 30 months until something else fun comes out or until the rates on the 335s become tolerable. They are blowing out these cars on leases right now as an FYI.

I typically like to lease...

But if what you say is true, I'll most likely buy the 335i.

Unfortunately since it is a new model, the money factor will be poor. There will be no love given from BMWFS on this car. But for that matter neither was there any for the E90 sedan when it came out. I am expecting my lease for the 335 sedan to be in the high 700, 760-780, sooo that will keep me in the running, more than that and I may consider something else.

You won't see good lease rates until sales of the new 335i's slow down and who knows when that would happen... looking at the 330ci's it might be a while!

I read once (probably on this forum) that each year the e46 coupe was out the sales declined until the mid-model refresh. After an increase in sales on the first year of the refresh the the decline started again. Although BMW still doesnt discount the coupes often. I expect the 335 to remain pricey for up to 1.5 years after released (depending on market competition). Depending on sales you may then see some unadvertised discounts from dealers.

I called BMWFS yesterday to ask just that, they told me that they are expecting high residuals and that the market is very stable. He said that they will release all the lease info at the end of July. I asked if i would get killed on a 328 and after talking for a while he said to expect it to be within the ballpark of what the 330 i had ordered and then cancelled for the coupe to be. That was 500/month, 3500 down, 12000 miles per year 36 month. I dont know how it will all pan out, but the guy was confident in this fact and was very excited about the coupe. I talked to him for a while and i dont feel like i was getting snowed, he has a 325xi and thinks he will lease a 328 when it comes out, so i dont expect this huge slap in the face that you are all predicting, at this point it is anyones guess, but my dealer confirmed what was told to me by BMWFS

So figure that there is roughly $5K to $6K min difference between a 328i and a 335i, and the fact that I do not put anything other than tags, first payment, and doc fees down (no cap cost reduction), and monthly tax (8% in AZ) and I am guessing we are at the high number I was talking about earlier.

Plus, how is your 328i optioned out? What is the MSRP for your car? I would guess @ $40K?? Do the math to get to the $500 a month payment. Doubtful. To get a $40K car at $500 a month before taxes, you need a money factor of around .0025 and a residual of around 59% for 36 months with your $3500 down (figuring that as all cap cost reduction and none of it going to tags, first payment, and doc fees). I just do not see this happened on a new car with a good deal of demand, based on the rates they have out there right now for their other in demand new cars (M Z Coupe, M Z Roadster, M5, M6, etc).

The only thing I can think of is that BMW thinks the 328i will be a much slower seller than the 335 and thus will give it better terms and perhaps that is the case here, but I do not doubt what I being told because it is not just my dealer telling me this but also my buddy that works for Huntington Bank and is in the leasing business. He tried to run me a four year on the 335i and it was comiong out to be too much money as well; better than the 36 month for sure, but still more than I want to spend.

Good luck, but do the research if you plan to lease before you order this car...

I think $500 a month is doable...historically, lease rates for the 3 series have been very reasonable and the residuals have been the highest of any BMW model. Even when the E90 330i first came out, you could still get a 60-62% residual with a .00225 MF on 36 months @ 12k / year...so why do people think the 335 (especially the E90 335) will be any different?

At 41,000, you looking more at 600-650 a month. 500 is way beyond reach for a car that expensive, unless you plan on putting like 10,000 down.

If MSRP is $41,895 + $695 destination, with $3500 cap reduction for 36 months, 62% residual, .00225 MF, payment would be about $510...$550 with an 8% sales tax.

No earthly way that is the residual and MF when the coupe hits the market... I was looking at the factors from BMWFS today and the E90 330i, which is on its way out, is at higher figures (I thought I saw .00255 MF and a high 50s residual). I am guessing this car would be close to the mid 600s at least...

My Fathers 46k 330i with $1140 out the door, 12k year 36 month lease is $646 a month. My 330i which was $42845 with only first payment down, 12k year 36months is about 620 a month. I would think a new 335i with the same options is going to be $700 month with minimal down.
