Tree Sap Removal

Does anyone know how to remove tree sap from the car? I tried all different kinds of solutions from the Pep Boys but nothing seem to work.

Oh wow... that's some serious sap. I don't know if this will work, but maybe try some Goo Gone? Make sure you get it off as soon as possible. I had some sap on my other car, and didn't get it off the hood quick enough, and it turned into a solid rock on my hood that fused with my paint... permanently there now.

the "only" chemical to safely remove it:

isopropyl rubbing alcohol on a towel. rub lightly... and let the alcohol do the work.

the sooner you remove it... the less chance of it etching/raising the paint (like a bird dropping).

i had owned a detailing business for over 10 years... trust me on this one.

be sure to polish & wax the area afterward.

Try a clear coat safe buffing/polishing compound. I had the same problem but waited too long and it was murder getting off even with 5-6 applications of rubbing alcohol first to loosen the sap.

they are easily removed with hot/warm water, at least for me. Just wax after that if you really care.

Denatured alcohol is safer on your paint and just as effective as isopropyl.

I've also had spit work wonders on really old sap

+1 ^

Great advice. For stubborn sap, I will mix in a little degreaser (I use Poorboy's Biodegradable APC) with the Isoproply Alcohol.

i used Armor....Clean to rub around it (when the sap is still wet though). I use it to clean my interior as well. It does the job real good. Its hard to remove when the sap is dried.
