I am not a good 6mt driver
I don't know what it is...but SUV's keep trying to race me
First a white toyota sequioa v8 with some bling bling wheels trys to race me. The whole time I'm ahead but only a half car length, then I shut it down at 60. Then the next day a black Navigator on 22's steps up...I'm shifting as fast as I can, chirping my tires from 1-2 and 2-3, which I know is not good. Worst part about it whas he actually pulled like 1-2 cars ahead of me with his oversized SUV and oversized chromed out wheels. Again, I shut it down at 60. I can't believe it...am I underestimating these cars...or am I just a terrible driver? This is my first 6mt by the way. |

Are you getting a good launch? Or is it from a roll? I hear the e90 shine at freeway speeds, so maybe you shut down just as your car was getting ready to pounce.
chirping 2-3 isn't necessarily bad for speed (for the health of your drivetrain is another story). If you're squealing and fishtailing after shifts, then thats bad. I used to be surprised at how fast vans are |

Am I getting a good launch?
Well, the first guy I raced it was from a roll. The second guy was from a dead stop, I mean, I thought I got a pretty good launch but that is definitely something I still need to work on. Was I fishtailing and squealing after shifts? No, not at all. |

lol...yea everyone keeps telling me it just takes time.
Instances like these make me regret getting the 6mt...but then I remind myself I'm still a beginner. And 6mt is still mad fun compared to driving a boring automatic...if I take speed out of the equation, I love the feeling of rowing my own gears. |

I consider myself a decent MT driver. The best feeling ever is drifting when you go from 2nd to 3rd.
I have a question though, I though i read somewhere in this site that someone could make their tires chirp when going from 3rd to 4th. are you guys with a 330 able to do this or is it just a fable?

Drifting is a technique to rotate the car around a turn. |

Yeah... drifting pretty much requrires you to be on the throttle constantly to keep the rear wheels spinning... |

I always drove manual and I must admit that the manual transmission on the E90 is a bit difficult at the beginning, but once you get use to it though you're going to smoke everyone (well almost everyone).

Extremely tricky. I drove my other friends manuals before briefly like the Honda s2k, Honda civic, Audi s4, and the older generation e36 3 series. The E90 took quite a bit of getting used to and I stalled it quite a bit the first few days I had it. |

I believe we started at maybe 15 mph...It's all kind of a blur but I think i was in 3rd which was a mistake. I should have downshifted to second...I think |
