Is this fact??? I'm so depressed that not only will the designation be different than my 330, but my rear bumper will be different as well!

What does BusinessWeek know about BMW's production plans? I'm thinking not too much.....they are just guessing.

And apparently, they can't add either...$41,295 does NOT include Steptronic, only base price and destination.

Yeah but in the article the reporter mentions that he had along an engineer from BMW. So I suspect he got the sedan release date directly from BMW.

So I guess the 325i will become the 328i.

Since this is one of the carefully orchestrated reviews to coincide with pricing info on the E92, the sedan comment is probably true. The mention of the 328 sedan is also in the article

I just find it hard to believe that after so much R&D, BMW would no longer use this engine in its true designated form. They use the 3.0 liter for the 2.5 and the new 2.8, so why not just call the new 2.8 the 330, if the real 330 will no longer be sold??? I understand they can use the engine in the 5-series, but I'll feel so short-changed next year, when I'm driving an "old" model, after only one model year of production!!!!! Long live the e90 330i!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It will probably happen as an 07 model year, starting in september...

BMW will not tell many people this due to the fact that they want people to buy the 330 now and now wait for the 335 sedan...

2007 model year equals 2006 production. No need to panic.

I have a 4 year lease. Looks like the earliest a 335i sedan in my future could be is late 2009! Life is soooooo unfair!!

Not here. Actually, you'd be surprised at the number of us who ordered an E90 with full knowledge that the 328i/335i were SOP in September. For me, the only difference it made was that I was hoping I could use it to leverage the dealership even lower on price for my 330i.

It says the 328i will only get a 218 HP engine? I find it hard to believe that they would change the engine and give only a +3 HP boost... I was thinking the 328i would be in the 235 HP range, but I guess they wanted to throw the old 330 owners a bone

With the sales figures BMW is running at the moment, I wouldn't be in a rush to bring out the 335 sedan

Agreed so that they can sell more 335i coupes before the 335i sedan kicks in. If they release the 335i sedan in Octocber as a few members claimed, there will be a consideration of getting coupe or sedan from customers. This could reduce the demand for the coupe. Not everyone likes a 2-door car, but people would love to drive the 300-HP car.

I spoke to my associate at the BMW's Munich plant and he mentioned that the 328i and 335i sedans will come out but not in the near future because for business reasons. The new 3 series is selling very well and therefore does not need an upgrade. It would be unfair for those customers whos just purchased the 325i and 330i a year ago to their car to see their car upgraded the next year.

I don't think BMW care about being fair to their customers it is more about finding the right time to up the ante in the BMW's only weakness (outright engine performance) vis a vis the competition.

It seems the IS350 is not much of a threat yet (kind of surprising)

"Unfair to those who purchased a year ago"? Give me a break. Maybe he was trying to make you feel better, but I seriously doubt that is a consideration of BMW's. I expect we'll see 328/335 sedans SOP in September, as everyone else has said. BMW wants to put out the best car it can, as soon as it can. This is not "unfair" to current E90 owners. After all, they got exactly what they paid for. It's not like their car has changed because a new model is coming out.
