New buyer looking for advice on 335i.

Hi all.

I am ordering my 335i tomorrow! EXCITED!

With the options i have (comfort access, metallic paint, premium, sport) i have deduced the MSRP to be $45,720 and the invoice to be $42,070; a difference of $3,650.

This is my first independant buying experience so, I was wondering what would be a good price to shoot for? I was thinking $43,500?

Some things to note:
1) I will be trading in a 2006 Honda Civic EX (5spd w/Navigation) with around 7000 mi. I cant find any blue book values for the civic since i guess it is so new, BUT the Sales Associate called their "brother" honda dealer and got quoted a price of $17,800 with 6000 miles.
2) I have been pre aproved for financing from BMW for up to $35,000.

Thanks!

That's a good price to shoot for, but, make sure to post back if you actually get that! 99.5% sure they'll say they'll give you a best deal of $45,720.
Try again around November. I'm in the same boat my man.

$1500 over invoice would be a very good deal. Look into EuroDelivery if you want to save a lot more $ and have a blast.

Well, save more on the CAR...break even on costs in the end.

Huh. And I was worried on losing the $3000 (depreciation) + sales tax on the used beater that I will br driving till the spring, before doing ED.

I feel much better now

ED deals are way better, they do not come out of dealer allotments. His $45,720 car would cost him 40k ED. RT airfare to Franfurt + train to Munich about $750 off season. Or London and Ryanair to Munich. Find a nice friend to shack up with for a few days in Munich, fill your tank a few times, and you still get home saving at least 4k.

Finding friends while driving a 335 is easy. Better than a Eurail pass.

When i go to the dealer tomorrow, should i tell him i want to pay $XX,XXX or $X,XXX over invoice? Are those startegies equal?

Cant wait for tomorrow, longest day of work ever!

Honestly, I would just call or write their internet department, rather than waste your time and gas for them to tell you to pay MSRP like pretty much everyone else.

w/o ED, 335i would be MSRP for at least a few months.
wait a 5-6 months save 2Gs or pay MSRP and pick it up in Sept/Oct....tough choices. ;\

I am getting the car in late sept. Production date on the 1 customizable 335 that my dealer is getting is going to be Aug 21st, plus 7 days for production plus 30 for delivery.

Im sure i can get them to go 1000 below?

The CA just did a MSRP total and said we will talk price when everythign comes together.

They also said there is a slight chance i could get the car sooner than expected. Should have my production number in a week or so!!!!!!!!

Am i spoiled to have my first BMW to be a 335i, i am also 21 yrs old, so please dont hate me!

Congratulations

How can anyone hate you because of your age? That's called jealousy, and a person has to get started sometime

It's just that i have read alot about some people hating teenagers with BMWs b/c they havent "worked for it" or 'got spoiled by their parents' and such.

I have an aerospace engineering degree from Notre Dame, and i have just been recently hired, so this is a present to my self for working hard the last 4 years.

Also, with the comment about the salesmans dream? what do you mean?

Don't pay anything over $1500 under MSRP.
