2 tickets for no front plate...

Hi guys. Got pulled over and ticketed for no front plates + front tint on Sunday, then ticketed again for no front plates by parking enforcement Monday evening. I'm wondering if I can be excused for the parking enforcement ticket ($25) since I was already written up for it by the LAPD, or will they just continue to write me up on it every chance they get until I get my front plates on?

Anyone been through a similar situation that can shed some light?

Thanks.

Dealer didn't install the front plate holder and told me to swing by once I got my plates to have it installed. I was hoping to bide some time before I had to do it, knowing I'd get pulled over for it eventually. Car looks so much better with no front plate.

This is California. If you haven't noticed, the state is broke. Parking and traffic tickets are a great source of revenue. You're not going to get excused from shit.

I carry my front license plate in my trunk and it has double-sided tape on it. If I get pulled over, I tell the cop that this is how it came from the dealer, and it just fell off yesterday. "I'll get it put on tomorrow, officer."

It's worked twice so far.

You'll have to pay for both, 100%

but what i'd do is:

get some red backing 3m trim tape, cut out 2 small squares and attach your plate with that.

once you get your tickets cleared, just remove the plate using a hair dryer and some dental floss to remove the tape.

no drilling, no holes, and as long as you clean the plate and bumper with alcohol before attaching, that plate won't be going anywhere until you want to remove it.

Legally speaking, it is reasonable to allow a certain time for you to fix the problem. I would fight.

No biggie. Here it is a $60 ticket (or $25), and I never had a front plate on my last 2 cars. I received one ticket while my car was parked out front at a club, and none since. I think it is worth it for not ruining the front aesthetics of the car.

Question: do you have tinted windows?????

I ask this because driving with out a front plate will atrack the cops, and if you have or decide to get your windows tinted all around well the cops will get you for both, not worth the time and $$$ to get fix it tickets....I know that the front plate looks UGLY but the law is the law....

By the way if you continue to get tickets (and it does not matter who gives them to you LAPD, LASD, etc.) your car can get inpounded for 30 days @ a rate of +/- $1000.00...how nice does the front plate looks now?????

those $1k can go for mods!!!!!

I do have tinted windows in front, 20% all around. I'm weighing my options on what to do with that. My friend works at a tint shop, and he told me there was some sort of fine you could pay to just keep the tint. Something like $50.

I never heard about the impounding thing. Is it a certain number of fix-it tickets that triggers it?

I'm going to get my front license plate installed, it was never an issue of if, more of when. As far as the tint goes.. I'll have to see about that. I'm either going to pay the fine and keep it, or put a lighter shade up front and see how my luck goes with that.

My point in this post was not what I should do with the license plate or tint, I was wondering whether or not I had any basis to fight the 2nd ticket issued for no front plates.

Thanks guys!

there is nothing you can do...you have to pay the tickets....wow 20% tint on the front windows is a bit dark......get the front plate A.S.A.P.....

as far as getting the car taken away it can happen.....I got several LAPD and LASD friends..they love taking cars away specially luxury cars since lux cars are the type of cars that break the laws more often speed wise, and mod wise.....

good luck!!!

NO! JDM Cars are the ones that Attract More attention to the cops. especially if its fixed up and all ricey. THey will Pull You Over. and in my opinion i think JDM Speed more then luxury cars because they feel like racing everyone thinking theyre all fast. some ppl drive luxury cars to cruise around/show off! i know sometimes they will speed, but mostly JDM cars are the ones to break the law. hahah

seems like they're cracking down even more. this is the second time i've heard of someone being pulled over just for front plates (except for at LAX, DUI checkpoint, etc).

ive gotten two from parking enforcement the last couple years, but never been pulled over specifically for it. i put it back on my accord for now. lets hope they leave me alone for my front tint (*knocks on wood*), although i only have 50% front.

Here in cali the cops love to bust people for the most minimum thing (specially burbank, glendale, etc)....and here in so. cal. a cop can give you a fix it ticket or he can send you to see a judge...once you go infront of a judge it can all go 50-50 he will let you pay the ticket and make repairs or he will keep your car on the spot if your records shows that you keep geting the same fixt it ticket.........

Just get the tow hook license plate holder.

I have been without a front plate for 2 years and no tickets. If I did get one, I would probably get the tow hook license plate bracket.

I do keep the frame and plate in the trunk with a screwdriver in case I do get pulled over. I will use the excuse that I was detailing and forgot to put it on. Who knows if it would work.
