2009 colors

i noticed a pic from another member. this is a 2006...but wondering if it is possible to get the same color for the 2009 since i do not see it on bmws website for ordering in the color scheme. also, is there a preference on year on which model may be better overall from 2006-2009?

This is Sparkling Graphite. The best color BMW ever had IMO. The same as my 2008 335xi below. Unfortunately it is not available in 2009.
Sparkling Graphite has been discontinued.

One can only speculate as to the reason it has been discontinued. I can tell you that as amazing as this color is and as much as I love it,
my car has a paint defect. In fact BMW is replacing the car because of it. My 2009 replacement is arriving at the port today. The
disappointing part is that I had to choose an alternate color (Space Gray).

My guess is that they had problems with this paint clogging the paint guns in the factory causing "spatter" in the finish.
But that is only a guess.

I always loved Graphite. Had it on my E92. Shame they got rid of it.

767jetz is correct. Both Sparkling Graphite Metallic (I loved it on my '06 too) and Arctic Metallic were replaced by Space Gray and Blue Water Metallic. I liked the Blue Water so much that, had SGM been available for 2009, it would have been a tough choice.

xfootballer15: Regarding what year to buy, 2006 through 2009, it depends. If you want SGM, you can't have it on a 2009 model. If you prefer the pre-LCI body/lights, you can't have that on the 2009 model. If you want the second gen iDrive, buy the 2009. If you want a 330i, buy a 2006. See where this is going......?

Sparkling Graphite, while a great color, is far from the best ever offered by BMW.

Byzanz FTW.

The best BMW color is the one you personally like. I really wish Imola red were available. I'm very much considering not getting anothe 3 series when my lease runs out in 13 months PRIMARILY because I don't like the available colors.

I just avoided florescent lights or diverted my eyes when in parking garages.

Where do you come off making a statement like that?????

If that was the case, this forum would only have 3 threads......2 of them would be about what wheels should the OP get..... and the 3rd would be about a speeding ticket and how does the OP get out of it.......

What about the thread about road-raging on a guy, then running away and calling BMW Assist???? That was a classic....

Cool...I agree I like the sparkling g....but when the sun is out it hits the car and does look purplish which im not too fond of either. The color above looked like a dark gray...so I was wondering....but since its in the shade i guess it just looks darker. Ill have to check out the space gray. im also torn btw getting and 08 or 09..335i or even considering a c350 mercedez or even the new camaro...looks pretty bad ass...what do u guys think....need some help with this one...i want something with balls, but at the same time want the exterior to look hot. 335i can look perfect, but needs upgraded aerod which brings the cost up over $45gs and of course need the 19'' wheels cuz the stocks on the 09 sucks..2006-2008 the sport stocks were actually pretty nice. so im sure you guys went through this when u bought urs..so curious to hear what u have to say on which to buy..
