Running boards..

what do you think on running boards on black sapphire? im eyeing the black sapphire with gloss trim.. what is your opinion on running boards?

Love mine. Looks good and especially nice when washing truck and need to get to roof to clean.

I think running boards look nice in any color of X5 or X6.

However, every post I have read from those who have them installed say other than appearance, they are worthless and do nothing but soil your pant legs.

So if all you care about is looks, then get them. But understand the issues with them.

they are not pointless.. my pregnant wife use it all the time. she is happy with the extra steps

I just ordered retrofit running borad kit and planning to install it myself. Any one done that before? Any installation tips will be very appreciated.

Even though I'm a little taller than most, it seems like I had to reach my leg further out when exiting the car. A bit awkard and also kept hitting my calf....

Love my running boards. Took some use to getting in and out of the car without getting pants dirty, but it's not a problem anymore. Very useful when washing the top of the car or the front windshield. Most importantly LOVE they way they look.
