Will 330i continue to be sold in USA?
Forgive me if this has been posted before....I'm new to the forum. Will BMW USA import the 330i as well as the 328 and 335? It seems the 330i will be vanishing from our shores if I'm seeing things correctly. Is this true? And, if so, why? Why can't we have the same engine choices as the rest of the world? Thanks!

335i coupe/sedan for current price and 330i coupe/sedan but priced as the base models. I don't understand how they make a great engine for a year and then get rid of it. Screw the 328i, why can't they keep the 330i??? |

fnu02: You can't offer a 330 for 36k one year, and 33k the next.
If you want a 330 you need to get it before Sept. We (NA) will eventually get a 330 and 325 again when we get the N53 DI and N51 DI engines. |

To me, the 3.0L N53 will arrive here at some point in the E90 lifespan to replace the current 3.0L N52, and that's about it. What use is there for a 2.5L motor anymore? 250hp will be the price of entry for this segment by the time the next update happens, and I don't see them selling a high strung 250hp 2.5L motor in a base model car. |

If the production of E90 335 starts in September, when do you expect it to be in US dealers' showroom? As far as I've known, the production of e90 330i still continues until the end of August.

Sad, but this is the truth. In the end it worked out better. The 335i coupe is still based off the original idea of the 435i. Although, had it been labeled 435i instead of 335i, I would bet money it would cost a crap load more. -Brett |

They thought about seperating the hard top convertible from the rest of the lineup , but then decided to rather keep it a 3 Series. But they did keep some of idea by making the coupe and convertible look slightly different from the sedan

4 is considered an unlucky number in some cultures - they would have had a hard time selling a 4 Series in China (of course the 8 Series should have sold like hotcakes).

It was part of a strategy to make the coupe / convertible more highline products so that they could charge much more than the mere 3 series. Probably market research showed that they wouldn't have been able to encroach on more up market models e.g mercedes

The N51 is 2.5L SULEV II engine designed specifically for the NA market. There are different reports as to whether it will be valvetronic or DI. The MEMO that provided credibility to the planned intro of the N54 also had the N51 and N53. The Calif emissions doc also had the N51. Regardless, I think a 325 priced under 30k is a very wise move. The ideal 2008 E90 line-up is a 2.5l 325 that gets great gas mileage, a 3.0l DI that also gets good mileage but with more gusto, and the indomitable 335si turbo.
